As good as chicken gets in Sydney. Great, really affordable. Tasty chips.make sure you get your chicken wrapped.in lebanese.bread.The chook itself is tender all the way through. I think this simple takeaway chicken shop is the best food in the area. Hands down.
I’ve tasted some good bbq chicken in different parts of Sydney, but I don’t think I’ve had better than this. Al Fayhaa is a Lebanese takeaway right in the middle of Lakemba’s main drag. It has two counters – one doing kebabs (the cooked on a grill kind) and the other barbecue chickens, burgers, chips and the other usual fare you get in takeaways (although they do have a camel burger on the menu). The kebabs are good, but the way they do their chicken is excellent. They take the chook off the rotisserie, loosely quarter it and wrap it up in a large thin sheet of bread, bag it up and give you some toum (garlic paste) to eat with it. By the time you get it home the juices have soaked into the bread and the skin is stuck to it. There are bay leaves in amongst the seasoning and the chicken practically falls off the bone. The whole thing is just stupendous and you sit around the table like a family of foxes ravenously tearing off bits of bread and meat, dipping into the garlic and devouring. Satisfying and primal.
