Great little dumpling and Asian restaurant on Norton St. A refreshing addition to the usual dining options available in Leichhardt. These guys make a mean dumpling. We absolutely loved their lamb dumplings!Really great housemade food on the menu and a good wine list too.
I love this place. I used to go to Ashfield for good Chinese Food, now I go to Leichhardt. I have not had a thing on the menu that I havent enjoyed. I highly recommend the dumplings (all are good but I prefer the fried Pork dumplings – delish). They recently renovated and the place is comfy and stylish downstairs (they have an upstairs too, but havent ventured up there). They have good quality beers and nice wine at a very reasonable price. Perfect if you want to have a boozy dinner with friends (or an ordinary dinner!). The staff are great, attentive and friendly, a family run business, run by good people and the food is great – we keep going back. Highly recommend.
Really nice, clean restaurant with friendly and helpful staff. The beef brisket soup was delicious, and the eggplant with peanut sauce was perfectly cooked. And so cheap! Definitely coming back.
Vegie dumplings were doughy and not very tasty. We ordered the steamed eggplant dish which had a sauce that was not to my liking but the worst part was it was hard and really undercooked! The shallot pancake was pretty standard can’t complain about that however would not return. Very disappointed as I LOVE dumplings and was very excited to find this restaurant had opened in the area.
My partner and i decided to try somewhere local as we usually head into the city when we feel like dumplings. I always go past this place on the bus and we decided to give it a shot. I really did want to like this place but unfortunately was let down by a number of things. There was no atmosphere and australian staff made it feel unauthentic. The dumplings were bland and extremely oily.
Fan Tong is a new Chinese restaurant that had opened on Norton Street. It’s been open just over a month and I finally got the chance to pop in for lunch on Saturday. I ordered the Zha Jiang Mian which is slow cooked soy pork mince, master stock egg, pickled vegetables, coriander and the delicious handmade noodles. The noodles were the highlight and the rest of the ingredients were well balanced and a decent size without being to heavy. The only thing I think it needed was a bit of chilli which I asked the staff and they happily provided. The dumplings looked good and very popular at other tables, I will definitely try them next time.
Amazingly flavours and a lovely place to dine. Had dumplings (pork and cabbage, pork and chives, lamb), duck rolls, pork bao burger, and BBQ por shallot pancake with a lovely bottle of Riesling. Everything was fantastic, especially the dumplings. Also shared an egg tart for desert which was flakey and just wonderful. $96 for two people (with a bottle of wine) who really ate like three people-great valueCan’t wait to go back and try the rest of their menu. Service was warm and professional. If you’re a Leichhardt local, get down there now. If you’re not, travel!
