Actually I got really good reviews for Tamarin, so the expectations were very damn high, but the experience was disappointing. Firstly, when I asked suggestion for the entrees the waiter replied saying you can order anything you wish, then I clarified whats your specialty he replied nothing as such, I asked for spicy entrees he said none is spicy. So, I skipped the entrees and started looking at main course, I again asked for specialty he again replied the same. I ended up ordering kadai paneer and naans and was shocked to see the quantity, any one can hardly finish 2 naans, and the taste was not good as well about which I complained and the subji got replaced which is the reason for an extra star in my rating.. totally disappointing experience, wont prefer going again.. 🙁
So disappointed – Samosas were frozen in the middle We love our Indian food and having spent several days in Leura and staying next to Tamarin, we wanted to have our last meal here. I ordered a vodka lime and soda and I was brought a glass with a nip of vodka, lemon seperately and a small bottle of soda. I had to ask for ice. (A basic bar course wouldnt go astray)We ordered the mixed non-vegetarian platter (2 samosas, 2 chicken tikka & 2 lamb kebabs) the lamb and chicken were very good, however the samosas were still frozen in the middle! The waiter offered two fresh samosas, however we declined the offer. To this credit, the manager quickly went into damage control, and offered us a replacement kebab & chicken tikka. For mains, we ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh & Prawn Marsala, as well as the saffron rice & garlic naan. (We love authentic Indian cuisine)The 2 curries were tasty albeit very oily.To add feud to the fire, it was the most expensive meal ($83) of the 3 dinners we had on Leura overall very disappointing We cant wait to get back to Sydney to our two favourite Indian restaurants! (One of which weve been visiting for over 20 years!
We were pleasantly surprised at how good this restaurant was. Efficient and friendly service and very tasty food. We ordered lamb Rohan josh, prawn masala, vegetable biriyani and butter chicken. All were delicious and the naan and mango lassi were excellent. I really enjoyed the Indian beers as well. We will definitely return when we are in Leura next. Highly recommended.
