Really good food and service. Enjoyable vibe in the restaurant. Just a bit pricey. Favourite dishes are the black bean noodles and fried rice with black bean sauce.
Lidcombe may be Sydney’s newest Korean town because by golly there are so many authentic Korean restaurants in the area it’s almost hard to believe. Gwanghwamun specialises in Chinese/Korean fusion and has the ever popular black bean noodle (with a side of pickled daikon and onions) for $10! Another favourite is the stir fry shredded sea cucumber, mushroom and bamboo which you won’t find in many other places. The beauty of this place is that even single diners have a variety of dishes to choose from because the selection is amazing! Half and half dishes are also a smart move as you can have both soup and noodles or rice for under $20. I will never go to Strathfield again!
With great food (and amazing value for money) and good service, our experience at Gwanghwamun was very well received. Going there via recommendation for authentic Korean food, it did not disappoint. We ordered the black bean noodles (with extra noodles) $14 to share between two and to say it was filling would be an understatement! It filled two people up and in saying so, you could imagine how good the portion sizes are. The black bean noodles were by far the best we’ve ever had, with exceptional flavour and although towards the end became relatively heavy and a bit overpowering, the overall meal was amazing. Conclusively, we had a great time there and we will definitely be back for some more!
I am a regular here and every time I come the noodles taste exactly the same, it’s the closest authentic Korean jjajangmyun tasting place in Sydney in my opinion. The service is quick and I love the half and half option because I am indecisive! The portion is huge too. The tangsooyuk can sometimes be a bit hard but hey, when they get the noodles right, they get my 5/5
As I’m reading previous reviews I myself am quite shocked. They’ve either got rid of the rude customer service peeps or the place has gone under massive revamp. Enjoyed my boyfriend’s birthday lunch here today, over blackbean noodle/fried rice and yuringi (which is like soft, crisp chicken with a vegetable mix). Both dishes were heaps big, tasted great and perfect for sharing!! I will definitely be back to eat more at this place.
I believe the food and customer service at any restaurant are the key points in which brings customers back for more. I normally don’t write reviews but this place fails immensely on both occasions and within my first visit. Firstly, I felt like I was being scolded by the waitress who refused to want leave the menu on our table for my friend who was on her way in. She told me she’ll bring it when she arrives and is seated on the table. What difference does it make?? Secondly, seems this waitress enjoys swearing to customers behind their backs and seems to have a lot of negative attitude. It totally put me off my food. Lastly, the food was not even good. The meat in the tangsooyuk was tough as hell i didn’t even bother finishing it and the noodles were overcooked and soggy. Definitely not worth spending your money here!!!!!!
Hands down the WORST restaurant I have ever been to! Terrible customer service with the female manager/waitress swearing under her breath every time we asked for more water. She obviously didn’t know I understood Korean! She was also racist – being extra nice to caucasian customers. It is obvious that they don’t use fresh produce as the fried meal we ordered was stale and cold. The noodle dish was also very overcooked. Definitely not worth the money to receive such poor customer service and horrible food.NEVER EVER GOING BACK
