Last night , a group of us 11 people went to the Palbok House restaurant, ti was not that busy, but the service was really really bad, especially the manager, we asked for a jar of water, has to repeat for three times before the water was deliver to us. Also, when we order, we order in a bill, but wassit at 3 different table, they said they can only provide the side dish for one table because we put all order in one bill, but they do not have a table to fit all 11 people, so we have to sat separately, we have to ask a few times before they agree to provided side dishes to 2 other tables. One more thing, when they deliver the pork bone hot pot to us, they put them at our table, we ask the manager nicely, can you put it on the other table, he just turned away without doing anything and shake his head. Also, I asked the manager for an extra bowl of rice, he didn’t give it to us, then I asked again 5 minutes later, he brought the bowl of rice, but when I look at the bill, he put 2 bowl of rice on the bill. Obviously, when we asked the first time, he put down 1 bowl to the bill, but forgot to gave it to us, when I asked again, he wrote it on the bill again and brought us the bowl of rice. This is a really bad experience, this was the first time I went there with my family and friends and is my last time. I will not go back again. The restaurant looks busy, there were around 35 customers, but with 5 people was serving, I do not know 5 waiters and waitress cannot handle 35 customers. The food was nice, just the attitude of the manager was really bad.

Palbok house is my favourite KBBQ in the Lidcombe area – its always bustling with locals too.The outdoor seating is great, so you wont leave smelling as BBQ-y as other places. The banchan is sooo good (not so great in this pic because we didnt order BBQ meats).Staff are attentive and nice, would recommend.

  • Msg Makes Me Angry

I had the spicy beef stew. It was acceptable. The banchan was nice too see photo.I couldn’t help but notice when I walked in it was pretty noisy not because of the restaurant being full but the noise was coming from three older males in their 50s who were drunk and shouting at each other. I could tell it was annoying the white couple who were seated near them. It was annoying me too because the three older men were being obnoxious and inconsiderate to others in terms of noise. But then I thought to myself, this restaurant has a theme based on ‘po zang ma cha’ (in Korea, po zang ma cha is a road side food outlet pitched under a tarp tent. The informality is the appeal of such places), so it is cultural or accepted to be loud. Therefore, I was undecided who was at wrong here. The Korean drunk men carrying on the unwritten rules of po zang ma cha, or the white couple being annoyed at the older men because it is a culture shock unless you know these unwritten rules. I’m still undecided, let me know what you think.

Can’t believe this place only got a rating of 2.9! I live in the local area and have been here regularly. Most days this place will be packed with diners but the service is always quick and friendly. Love their bibimbap and the soup that comes with it, definitely my go-to dish!

Me and my friend were first time visitors at this place, I ordered the tonkatsu and she ordered the bibimbap all which cost $26 in total. The atmosphere was delightful, and we were greeted promptly by the waiter guy there who attended to all of our needs. As a first time visitor, this place has a very homely feel to it. The tonkatsu was delicious, but five times bigger than my face so I couldn’t end up actually finishing the whole dish which was a shame as it tasted great. The bibimbap was also delicious, and there was the usual side dishes with the unique addition of pasta!! Our visit was delightful, no complaints whatsoever. Probably will be back more often ^^

I am a weekly regular to this place. The food is consistently good, the soondubu & gamjatang is excellent! nice banchan too. Hope the chef never changes.

We’re weekly regulars. The regular order BBQ with cook at your table gas. But we love the Kim chi soup, long Kim chi that gets cut into bite sized pieces at the table. Busy lunch and dinner. But note they’re closed on Sundays. reviewinfive.com
