Actually very good. This Indian is actually really good, especially considering it’s in Lismore! 😉 I live in Melbourne and frequent lots of Indian, and this place holds up well. Good depth of spices, not watered down sugary westernised crap. A must try if you are a local!
Very Disappointed. We were very disappointed last night (21st February) We told you when we arrived that we needed to eat soon to go to a show and we watched as you fed lots of people who came in and ordered after us, including take a ways. We have never had this poor service in Lismore before and have always found Cafe Saffron to have very good service and excellent food. We had to leave hungry and unhappy to catch our show at the Workers Club. Until this experience, I could and have recommended Cafe Saffron to many friends. I am afraid that you now have 4 unhappy customers who will not be recommending you to anyone.
Reasonable prices & good service. I don’t know what planet Nom de Spoon lives on but I found exactly the opposite experience of Cafe Saffron. We were delighted to finally find a good Indian restaurant in Lismore. Service is quick, staff pleasant, food very nice, prices extremely reasonable and atmosphere lovely. I’ve lived in Sydney and Leura in the Blue Mountains and have sampled some of the finest restaurants on offer and while Cafe Saffron may not be the best restaurant I’ve ever been to I have absolutely no complaints. I can’t believe someone can complain about having to wait 15 minutes for service – never in my life have I ever been served that quickly and would find it hurried and unenjoyable. Have been back to Cafe Saffron a second time and plan to go again.
High prices and bad service.. I was in Lismore with a friend and thought we’d try this Indian restaurant. We both went in around dinner time and the place was empty except for one or two other parties. Behind the counter a woman was on the phone. We waited, standing in front of her for five minutes without even being acknowledged. Eventually we were seated. The woman seemed to have a bit of an attitude. We consulted the menu, decided what we wanted and waited to be served. Fifteen minutes later we still hadn’t been served. In both of these cases all it would have taken to have transformed our experience was some acknowledgement. ‘I’m sorry we’re short-staffed tonight, I’ll be with you as soon as I can’ for example. (Though I got the impression that it was always that bad.) The attitude of this restaurant was just awful. I can’t speak for the food but the service was arrogant and bad. So much so that we left without even ordering. The menu items seemed expensive – ($4.50 for a lassi for example, which is a glass of yoghurt and water), but I’m sure I’ll never eat there to be able to provide a more thorough review.I would advise against going to Cafe Saffron unless you like high prices and bad service. It’s no surprise there was hardly anyone in there. We ended up going to Mary G’s.
