I had training at a nearby office building and was looking for breakfast options, and this was one of the places that opened earlier than 8am, at 7:30am. I was looking through their menu and was intrigued by the ‘lamb bacon’ that was part of their Big Breakfast as I had never come across it before, so it pretty much suckered me into giving it a go. In addition, I ordered an Earl Grey tea to go with, for a total of $25.When taking the order, the wait person nearly forgot to ask me what kind of eggs I wanted, as I had pretty much stepped away before they had remembered. To be honest, it didn’t bother me, they could have surprised me with whatever they did to the eggs and I would have been okay, but I know some people probably would have been a bit irked by it.The tea came out quick, as to be expected, its some loose leaf and hot water, but disappointingly, they didn’t provide any milk with it. I realise I could have asked for it, but I had also hoped that they might have brought it out separately since the server only had two hands, but alas, it did not happen,Since I had pretty much been the second customer of the day for them (the first only got coffee), my order was hot on the grill quick, and came out quick smart. It looked, and smelt great. It also tasted great. A personal preference matter though, little pots of things should sit on the sides, not in the middle, as the middle of the plate is where you need the space to cut things, but I didn’t want to lift it out of the plate (very crowded plate!) since it was oily, but I also didn’t want to use extra napkins to put it on the table, so I did eat my way around it.Sausage cooked well, good grill marks but it had been butterflied. Mushrooms cooked, but could have been softer a little. Spinach cooked and soft, had great body. Beans were lightly spiced. Fairly standard hash, firm scrambled eggs that could have been perhaps a little creamier, and the sourdough toast was lovely. But, what of the lamb bacon? It was amazing. It looked like shredded bacon, but you could smell the lamb coming off the plate. It wasn’t too salty, but it had heaps of texture, and a firm crunch to it. First time having it, and I loved it. Very solid lamb flavour too, so if you’re not a fan of lamb, I would highly advise against it. I know my mum would not appreciate it haha.Overall, it was a fairly casual place, loud pop-rock music (could turn it down a touch), good food, though a few minor things (my milk for my tea!) is why I pulled it down from a 5, but then, 5 is a perfect score, and well, requires perfection.100% would eat that big breakfast again!
Sadly my experience here was nothing but disappointing… I felt so let down and sad that I even tried this place for something new in Macquarie. I ordered the pancakes going upon the photo in the menu, presentation of the picture where these fluffy full golden pancakes stacked in a layer with strawberries and ice cream, served with syrup, I received literally packet heated pancakes…. dehydrated and dry, no strawberries or ice cream, just syrup. I was no where on earth impressed. Wasnt the one to say something but I made my judgment for myself to not return.
