Very popular cafe if you want to sample swedish cuisine. This is my second time here. Just had to have the kttbullar (meatballs) which come with potatoes and lingonsylt. My only gripe would be to being the food out hot. I get they are busy but the potatoes were cold. Marking up though as the meatballs were generous in size and oh so tasty. Way better than IKEA.
Fika is Swedish for a coffee break that’s more about the socialising bit than drinking coffee, and this was a most perfect place in Manly to have one. The dishes are very unique, so hit this place up if you want to go somewhere a little bit different for brunch! We really liked the Pork Berry ($21) which had super succulent braised pork belly (YARM) alongside mashed potato, picked red cabbage and lingonberry jam. The Swedish Meatballs & Mash ($20) were good too, and also had lingonberry, which is a really good sweet sidekick that Northern Europeans use – it definitely gives a twist to your mash!We also had the Salmon Lover ($19) which had house cured salmon stacked on pumpernickel (not sure if I like pumpernickel in general, bit dry and healthy haha). The Toast Skagen ($20) was quite creamy and involved a cold prawn, dill & mayo mix stacked on sourdough, interesting but not sure if I liked it. The soda was a bit sour but coffee was great. With yummy food, outdoor seating and friendly staff, we definitely had a lovely fika here!
3.5. A little slice of Sweden at Manly beach. The space might be small but they certainly pack it with character. Bunch of Swedish goodies line up the wall and the menu full of Swedish goodies also. We ordered Fisk dlux and toast Skagen. The ice mocha and pango IPA was perfect for a summers day at the beach. Highlights: perfect location tucked away from the main strip. The mocha was on point. Gravlax was good. Salmon cooked to perfection. Lowlights: The food was a little bland.
