Felt both insulted and ripped off. Id heard good things about The Hold, so when the opportunity presented for a casual night out in Manly, I grabbed it. The service was predictably Manly – unprofessional, casual staff, more interested in talking to each other than serving me. The place is dark and gloomy; but thats expected when the theme is a ships hold. I ordered the vegan version of the Captain Jack Burger, which came at a whopping $22. Add a side of Beer-battered fries and I hit a total of $29 for my takeaway. My partner and I walked over to the harbour side to dine on the grass in the park. Imagine my surprise when I opened my container to find the most uninspiring and pathetic looking burger Ive ever seen. Honestly, apart from the fresh bun and tasty patty, the only other ingredients were a small pile of rocket lettuce, a few bits of vegan cheese, and a squirt of a special sauce! For $22 I felt utterly disappointed and ripped off. By contrast, my partner went to Benbry Burgers across the mall to get her meal that looked and apparently tasted amazing. My rating of 1-star was for the cardboard container and tasty bun.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough! The food is wonderful, their vegan menu is really something else! Some of the best vegan food Ive had in YEARS! But they still have heaps of options for meat eaters too. The staff were all super friendly & helpful. Will definitely be back!
Best vegan burger I have ever had. The bread was really nice, not cheap tasting unlike other burgers I have had, and the ingredients all tasted fresh so it wasn’t too heavy. The decorations are awesome and really add to the atmosphere of the bar. Amazing vegan options and the staff are wonderful and friendly!!
Incredible vegan options and non vegan options if you’re eating with non vegans. I had the burger with mac and cheese in it and it was amazing! And such a good vibe there. Also really good cocktails
Shipwrecked.. This bar had the most awesome theme and decorations I’ve seen in a long time. Came in here on Wednesday when we heard there was a 5 dollar burger night on. We weren’t expecting much for such a bargain and got absolutely caught off guard by huge – tasty grass fed burgers. Live music came on and the singer killed it. We ended up staying all night had some great drinks and a great time. This gem of a place is getting 5 stars and we’ll be back next Wednesday! !!
Chicken Burger last sunday was so yummy! Had a great lunch in the afternoon sun. Staff was friendly & smiling like always! Really Nice service, we shared the baby squid and asian salad for starters and all agreed the burgers following Were beautifull.. Definatly the best in Manly!! Keep it up guys!!
The Hold has quickly become my favourite bar! The cocktails are next to none and they do the best burgers around! Super friendly staff and the service is excellent. This should be on everyone’s list to Visit list, you won’t be disappointed!
