To give this establishment a rating would be too much. The drinks were flat. The kids meals were the price of a normal and the kids said was terrible and would not eat. We left before the rest of the order arrived – what a waste of money.Rated only because this app requires it to be saved.
Nick must have had a real bad experience! I walked in off the plane off the street after a steak. Ok so the armoured grille on the outside hotel walls wouldn’t look out of place in a war zone BUT I was met with a smiling face who took my order straight up (it wasn’t really busy) she asked what my number was, my table number (you people!), and I didn’t have one yet so the bar man said no worries I’ll show you where to sit. Sydney must be in love with Melbourne, the wine that popped out was a Cape Schank Pinot Noir at a reasonable 250ml price if $12. (If you’re not aware, wine is now served in two sizes at many venues). He showed me my table and I sat and waited for my Scotch fillet. It came out as expected for a standard pub meal, cooked to my liking and warm. Though I wish pubs would not put the steak on top of the chips! The place was clean and tidy with happy staff and good food, what more could. I ask for in this setting. Cheers!
Came to have group dinner with friends and was very pleased with the food that I ordered. Penne Amatricana that I and another friend ordered was delicious. We both loved it very much. The staff are very friendly and helpful which made our group dinner enjoyable. On the other hand, in terms of price, I think they are a bit pricy for a pub-style dining.
Appalling service and disappointing food sums up our experience at this place. Our order got lost in the system and when the food finally arrived, it was nothing short of terrible. Seriously, how hard is it to make decent food these days with such an abundance of fresh ingredients available in sydney? Frozen pizza base with toppings that just fall straight off and the cheapest rubber proscuito.Parpadelle Beef Ragu pasta with 99% bolognese mince sauce and one tiny piece of beef strip, tiny! Ceaser salad with cold egg, does it really take that long to poach an egg fresh to order?? If youre after an eighties, sydney pre-foodie gourmet fuss-about-food experience where service is at the bottom of your list, go to the Backyarders. Perfect name! For an additional $10-20 do yourself a favour and head over the road (directly opposite) to Maranellos and get proper wood fire pizza, great overall food and service at your table.AAAARRRRRRRRRR……(venting) 🙂
Went here for an impromptu lunch with Ompty. Its a beautiful interior downstairs, but finding your way down their can be a task. Simple italian menu – pizza, pasta, steaks. I got the burger. Average – on the nicer end of average though. Would return with groups.
