Maroubra junction has a few Indonesian options to choose from. With Betawi being the pick of the bunch. A clean little restaurant, serving some tasty home cooked favourites It is hard to go past the Nasi kuning komplit , damn this dish is delicious. The fragrant tasty vibrant yellow tumeric rice served with fried chicken, anchovy tepeh and Tasty beef rendang. The hearty long tong sayur also a favourite. This is a coconut curry soup served with Indonesian rice cakes, a sambal egg and fried chicken leg. One of my favourite cheap eats in the area. aroundtheclockfoodie.com

Extremely poor service. I came in here, waited for 10 minutes and NOT 1 PERSON attended to me. I spent the entire time trying to get the attention of the waiters/waitress in vain. 1 of them was standing around doing nothing the entire time and IGNORED ME when I tried to get his attention. All of them had very reluctant and unhappy looks on their faces, as if they did not want to do any business at all. A family who was there before me said that they had been waiting MORE THAN 30 MINUTES for their food.In the end, I left without ordering anything. Do not patronize stalls like this. There is another Indonesian restaurant a few doors down with much better service and food.

Surprise, surprise that there are not many reviews of this place. We came here as suggested by google review. A small restaurant with several tables only. As we entered, there seemed to be several kids playing which makes you feel that you walked into someone’s home. Probably it is not everyone’s taste, but we did not mind. It has so much personal touch to it. The pictures on the menu did not look inviting at all. To be serious, they looked like leftovers. I even pointed this to my husband and thought we might have chosen the wrong restaurant. Maybe we should have been to the dim sum place instead. But I was tired and did not feel like going somewhere else. The dish came. We were blown away. It was really tasty. Homy food, fully of flavor but not over the top. They also looked way better than the picture menu. Unfortunately, I did not bring my mobile phone and did not shoot a picture. Will do it next time. This is my favorite in the area now. Note: There are not many seats and they filled up quickly at lunch time.

Loved it! Went there for lunch with my son and husband and the food was delicious. And the price was not too expensive either. We ordered chicken satay, grilled squid, and nasi uduk komplit. The place was cozy and homey and the owner was very friendly too. Would definitely eat there again one day.

I went here to have lunch with my girlfriend and I was amazed at how cosy the place is. Even though the place is small, but it feels comfortable.I ordered the Soto Betawi (Beef & Tripe in Light Coconut Milk), Sate Babi (Grilled Pork Skewers) and Bakmi Ayam Komplit. The food tastes great and the price is well worth it. The service was nice and the owner is very friendly. It turns out that Betawi Kitchen is one of the oldest Indonesian restaurant in Sydney.I would definitely go back here and recommend it to a friend
