Went to the park on Sunday for the car festival to find it cancelled. Gorgeous day and after a decent ride we were starving. Had an early lunch at the cafe and thrilled they had some German and Italian specialties. Kransky and Bratwurst rolls, mushroom arancini with yummy gooey cheese in the middle. Love the coffee here. Treated ourselves to an almond croissant and then a couple of strawberry friands. After horrid weather the days prior, Sunday was warm and sunny and we chillaxed by the river. Thank goodness we rode off some of the calories. This is a hidden gem. The park is beautiful and the staff at the cafe are lovely. This is a must try if you are in the area.

Really great spot for parties and families. BBQs available. Location is ideal for us – right on the cycling path. Ladies make great coffee, jaffles and cakes at the cafe, which is take away. The Acai Bowl and smashed avo are must tries. Friendly service and the ladies are always happy to help out.

I found this place Sunday on one of my walks – it’s on a track from Earlwood to Tempe station. I had the smashed avocado dish and a coffee. AMazing, finally someone who can make coffee in Marrickville oops Earlwood – just over the river apparently makes it a Marrickville neighbour. Great service and the food is really good. I overheard some guys telling the lady behind the counter that her bacon and egg rolls were amongst the best they had ever eaten and apparently they know because they travel allover NSW and Victoria delivering pianos and live off this particular food item. Location is stunning and toilets at this park are clean

This place is a bit like an Oasis. Entry opposite the velodrome into Gough Whitlam Park or access by cycle along the Cooks River bike track. We park in the parking lot and demount the bikes from the car and ride to Ramsgate or towards Homebush and stop at the cafe on the return. Last time we had the smashed avocado and pulled pork roll. Great food, staff are really friendly and coffee is amongst the best we have had in Marrickville. Bargain for brekky including coffee for less than $30.

Cafe serving parkgoers. Popped in here for a quick breakfast – even early in the morning there were quite a few people coming to the park (looked like a big social cricket match was going to be held). It’s a canteen/cafe serving the people who come here so it’s not a table cloth and amuse bouche place. A couple of tables are outside but you largely take your food to where you’re doing your activity. Had a chorizo jaffle and a pork and fennel sausage roll, the latter of which they were just finishing as I ordered. The caramel shake didn’t have much caramel in it. Nothing particularly memorable but serves an important role for people in the park.
