Continuing my search for the best bahn mi thit in Sydney. I found myself in Marrickville trying the bahn mi thit at the famous Marrickville Pork Roll. Instead of my usual straight pork roll, I found the pork belly and crackling roll a bit too hard to resist. Wow! Whats not to like! Roll was crunchy on the outside and so soft on the inside. The filling was generous and wonderful! Marrickville Pork Roll goes to the top of the list!!
For what they serve, the price, the quantity and the super quick service, this place is impressive. They really pack the bread roll (which tasted super fresh, crispy outside, soft inside) full of ingredients. The ingredients themselves also tasted really fresh and delicious. Great combination of pickled veges, meat and fresh salad. I tried the traditional pork roll and crispy roast pork roll. Had a slight preference for the crispy roast pork one.
It is said that this place has the best bahn mi/pork roll in Sydney. Not really a fan of pork roll, but I have to say their pork roll is really smashing. The roll was a little crunchy with various fillings, which were fresh and reasonable mixed. Their chilli was really spicy, so don’t add too much. The price is reasonable, 6 or 7 bucks for a decent flavour, worth the money. Will come again.
Definitely a contender for the best bahn mi in Syd. Bread rolls crispy, filling fresh and prepared well. Pickled carrots are great here and solid options with all the meat fillings.
If your in the area and your hungry and pork rolls are your go you may have to line up but they are worth it. I do a lot of traveling and much prefer a pork roll or variation over Subway so I think I know the best places in Sydney and this is one of the best places.
Everybody raves about Marrickville Pork Roll so we knew we had to try. Before pork rolls became such a hit to the foodie community, it was just the humble quick meal that many went to when they wanted something filling but also packed heaps of flavour. The pork roll is deliciousnot too different from the ones youd get in Cabramatta, Canley or Bankstown, but indeed has a good ratio of meats to sauce to salad. I also tried their pork crackling roll ($7, which is your typical heo quy in the roll) and this was definitely worth coming back for. In saying that, you can get cheaper pork crackling rolls elsewhere that taste just as good. The service is quick so even though theres a long line all the time, youll be served not too long after joining the queue.
After a couple of visits, I think that this is better than Hong Ha – maybe the bread roll itself isnt as crunchy but it has a lot more filling in it and its $1 cheaper. The crackling pork belly roll adds another good option – Ive always preferred banh mi with thick juicy pork rather than the processed slices, so I still see this as a good cheap quick option and I wouldnt want to queue for it – fortunately there was no queue at 10am.
