Came here on a Saturday night when they had a set banquet menu for $40 which was 8 tapas plus olives. That works out to be $5 per tapas which for what you got portion wise for some of the tapas seems a bit expensive. e.g one empanada each, one zuchinni flower each and one small piece of bread with cured salmon on top. The chilli squid course however, you got a bowl each with lots of flavourful rice and $5 for one lamb chop is ok. Saying that, the food was good quality. Beef fillet (though small) and lamb chop were perfectly cooked and accompanied with tasty sauces. The pear tart was very nutty and not overly sweet. Meatballs (you get 2 each) also had a lots of flavour. Everythingable so I would still recommend trying this place. Service was efficient and friendly.
Delicious tapas and great service! The food at Barrio is beyond compare, fresh hot tapas delivered in a timely fashion. The four cheese stuffed zucchini flowers, fresh figs with goats cheese and jamon serrano, and the Wagga beef with celeriac are a great way to start a meal. The saffron chicken skewers and Spanish meatballs are also highly recommended. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Great restaurant!
How lucky are we! Freshly prepared, good selection of tapas. This chef knows his flavours, quite a decent wine and beer selection. Can’t believe this place is local. When you walk in you forget that your in mayfield. My only niggle is that it can get a bit noisy, but the food is worth it! Oh, and make sure you book!
Great food, poor service.. Basically I was not told on the phone when I made a booking for 16 ppl that we would have to do the banquet. We did not want a banquet as last time we were still hungry. Our numbers dropped to 10 ppl in the end and we were told if we did not do the banquet it would be messy to try and do individual tapas orders. The waiter made us feel extremely uncomfortable that we wanted to order off the menu. He went out of his way to make it confusing when bringing the food to the table and basically told us to sort it out amongst ourselves. Having worked as a chef in quality restaurants that serve tapas, it really is not that hard. Especially for 10 ppl. Most good waiters or waitresses know how to write a position number down for a table, bring food, and most of all keep the customer satisfied.Lucky the food is awesome and the female waitress is very nice.
