Great beer on tap. Delicious snacks — we had the fried prawns (can’t remember the exact name of the dish). Great atmosphere and decor. Highly enjoyable!
Overall very impressed. Took two customers here on a Wednesday night. We had a beer downstairs (good local brew called three sails) then went upstairs for a meal. Decor upstairs is a bit all over the place, but service and food was good. Not fine dining, but very acceptable pub fare. Good wine list as well. Overall would go back.
I really like the atmosphere at Lord Nelson, one of the oldest hotels & pubs in Sydney. Good choice of local beers. We had dinner there twice. I first had the chicken burger that I really enjoyed, and order the beef pie the second time, which I thought was average. Definitely a great place to enjoy a nice cold beer after work though.
We came across this place with our friends over St Patrick’s Day. Was super packed. We could hardly move. Since there were not much good options around, we decided to have atleast one beer there. By gods grace we got a table so we enjoyed our time there. Grabbed four dark emails which was great with chips and potato wedges. Decent place !!!
Old school pub down in the rocks – it is very popular with aussies and tourists alike, a huge range of beers; English, Irish and more! I have been here for an engagement party before and drinks. It has historical paintings and artefacts and has been in Sydney for a long time. I had a cider on this occasion, a nice cloudy apple, sort of sweet. I got a half pint which is good that they sell different sizes. aroundtheclockfoodie.com
Aaaah the Lord Nelson. It has been a fixture in my life since moving to Sydney many, many years ago. The beer is good, the Ploughman’s lunch is awesome (I’ve been known to wait more then two hours until it is available) and the atmosphere is relaxed like an English pub (complete with log fire on a cold day). The bar menu is great and the portions are really generous. The meat pie and mushy pies is legendary as is the fish and chips. Occasionally there will be new items on the menu (school of prawns) so it keeps me interested. You see the cross section of Sydney at this spot and it is pretty bloody good. foodiemookie.com
Cozy place to catch up, good service. Food was okay. We tried the famous beef pie which was kind of a let down as it was not as great as we expected. The mash and gravy are delicious, but the pie itself is average. The kofta is quite average as well. wandereatntell.wordpress.com
