Went here the other night with my friend. I had the sashimi and he had the duck. The service was great and the food was absolutely amazing. We sat on the bunker like seats which was something different, but really cool! Would recommend this as a new experience out of the ordinary in Sydney. Thanks for the great night guys!!
If you’re happy to be a little squashed up with other patrons you will enjoy some excellent Japanese. Unlikely to come by it so you might have to look up the address.
What a hidden gem! Tucked in the back streets of Kirribilli, this Japanese joint is bustling, and for good reason. Every dish we had was just delicious. We had the prawn wonton, lettuce cup with crispy chicken, gyo tataki, seafood ceviche, rainbow maki and grilled duck, all of which we would get again. And it was the perfect amount of for two people. BYO is a bonus! Worth the extra for a class above your average Japanese.
If you’re in the area and crazing Japanese good then this place may satisfy your pallet but not native owners should be noted. Little bit squashed with sitting arrangements.
Nice and traditional food!. We came across Ainoya before the Jessie J concert at The Big Top, and it was lovely! The staff were attentive and helpful, and the interior was traditionally Japanese, including chairs and tables that were sunken into the floor. We went early so it was relatively empty, but the restaurant filled up quickly afterwards, and I can see why! The food is fresh, healthy, made quickly with excellent produce, and super super tasty! We ordered the chilli and pepper edamame (spicy!), the seaweed salad (delicious and huge!), the chef’s recommended sashimi platter (9 pieces – 3 salmon, 3 tuna and 3 kingfish, all soft and delicious!), the spider roll and the california roll – both so tasty and presented beautifully! Beautiful quick meal, with great green tea as well! Highly recommended!
Lovely classy Japanese. Loved this place, best meal I’ve had in ages. Lots more on the menu than the regular sashimi and sushi. Healthy, authentic, fresh meals, we shared a number of entrees kinda like tapas style and they brought them out staggered at the perfect time. Very impressed
