Visited this place recently for coffee and brunch. I had a cappuccino and avo toast. The avo toast was nice but a bit tasteless, especially as the avo was not quite ripe so was a little rubbery. The coffee was nice but took what seemed like a long time to arrive, only just before the food, and not quite enough froth for my liking. However, the decor in this place is incredible. Although dark and quite loud inside, i loved the ‘blacksmith’ theme, complete with leather-bound menus, metal plates and spoons and chains hanging on the walls. Worth going for a coffee just to gawk at the decor, food may be a miss though.
Lovely local place to catch up with a friend. Great coffee, and they serve it with these cute vintage silver teaspoons! Quaint. Service could be improved, but food is great. Last time I had a pawn linguini, which was very filling and great flavour with saffron. My friend was also very full after her meal, good portion size.
Poor service. I went to Blacksmith today for lunch with a friend and was disappointed. The table we were directed to was extremely small and uncomfortable – we had to pull up a chair for our drinks so our plates could fit on the table. The food took 40 minutes to come out and my fresh juice was forgotten – I had to remind them about it. I ordered a breakfast stack and my friend ordered the same (not a difficult thing to prepare, ham, spinach, hollandaise and poached eggs. The sourdough bread was over cooked and impossible to cut through. The nice looking wooden plate it was served on kept moving around as I tried to cut through the tough bread, impractical. Nice enough dcor and a decent sounding menu, but the service is shocking. Only go here if you have a large amount time to burn.
Where’s the service.. Food was nice and generous however very hard to get service. Only 5 tables were occupied and we waited over 1/2 hour just for a coffee. It’s a funky style and vibe so I’ll give it that!
Our night at the Blacksmith. We were excited to go to this restaurant but unfortunately the only thing that was good was the live music. The cocktails were below average in size and taste but not in price. The service was non existent and impossible to get their attention even though there were only 5 occupied tables in the whole place and 4 staff. We had bruschetta for starter which was pleasant but the main meals were not good. The gnocchi was so over cooked and inedible. Not once were we checked on to see if our meals were ok which was probably a blessing as our waiter had the worst body odour I have ever come across. I could keep going about this experience, no cutlery given etc ect a real shame as potential to be awesome but definitely not the experience we were hoping for.
Really liked the setout of this cafe and was very happy with their breakfast offerings, the vege breakfast was delicious and a generous portion size! Everyone was happy with their choice and would definitely visit again!
Great atmosphere but…. Great fit out of the restaurant but the food it terrible & over priced. One slim tiny slice of bruschetta $3.50. Won’t last long if they don’t re do the menu
