Queued up for these babies for two hours over the weekend! It was cold and windy but that didn’t stopped me from waiting for my turn to finally get my hands on those burgers that I have been oggling for weeks now. These food truck has just been making rounds to places quite far from where we live. So when I saw the IG ad, everything has just to stop. No plans made for Sunday except to visit Marrickville. Never mind that it was my niece’s birthday. I just need to have those burgers. Like seriously. It was fun lining up. Music was blasting and everybody was being chatty while bowls of lechon and rice inhaled by some of the people lining up for Mate Burger. When my position was finally in front of the truck (not yet my turn as the line has to snake inside the building – oh yesss) I checked the menu and was a bit disappointed as there was no Ube bun or the Sakura bun. But was pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of ensaymada. So what to choose. I can’t possibly order everything. So have to settle for two burgers. I have ordered the Lechon Burger, the Pare Burger and kid’s burger. I would have ordered the fries but I’m not feeling the lechon topping. I would have wanted the adobo one. Order didn’t take long before my name was hollered. I was so excited and rushed inside the car to eat. Verdict?Rawrrrr!! That Pare burger is just soooo good. My husband enjoyed the lechon burger too. The apple slaw was a happy surprise in the sandwich. One comment though – there was too much mayo/sauce – he said that in between bites. I love how the lechon and the beef patty complemented each other. I can’t believed I finished that huge sandwich under 15 minutes. And I wanted more the thing is I was already stuffed. I have to stop myself.I hope to catch these guys again… soon.(sorry for my crappy photos – it didn’t give justice to the awesomeness of these burgers) mypostcardtrail.com
Mate burger are a friendly crew and have come to our neighbourhood a couple times now. The concept of American Filipino food coming out of a food truck had us lining up immediately upon opening! The cheeseburger or cheesemate burger is delicious! Hits the spot each time with perfect proportions of brioche, meat , cheese, sauce and pickles !! The meat isnt fatty so you dont feel like a grease mouth after eating it .My husband and I shared the adobo fries … wow . Juicy pieces of adobo, sauce , chicharon and chilli, sprinkled over fries. What makes the fries is definitely the adobo – which can be a contentious topic in the Filipino community who makes it best , usually mum does . But hey, this was super tasty and the meat was juicy ! Thanks for stopping by mate burger !
