Went to Subo with friends. We were sat at the back and the waiters had a friendly smile. In terms of the positives, I can see that the waiters try their best , and they try to produce the meals with local produce. There were some things that I think could be improved. I think service could be better if they provided napkins, and the dishes to be explained with more accuracy. I think the meals, service and experience was not memorable unfortunately.
Chef Beau Vincent has done stints with Tetsuya Wakuda, Guillaume Brahimi and Warren Turnbull, so you can imagine what kind of edibles turn up on the five course menu. Front of house is managed by Suzie, Beau’s wife, and with years of experience between them, they’ve created a stylish and intimate venue that celebrates seasonal ingredients.The front room of the restaurant feels a tad gallery-like; pretty much bare walls except for a couple of sculptured wire animal busts and oversized wooden pegs that serve as coat hangers at the bespoke front door .

We especially enjoyed talking with Suzie about restaurants around Sydney – great knowledge and recommendations. Subo offers exceptional quality food at a reasonably price. Girls weekend from Sydney. Wow, what a wonderful experience. The food was exquisite, the service attentive but not overbearing and the atmosphere calming and intimate. We felt like we were in our own private dining area. The matching wines with the 5 course degustation were perfect – temperature spot on and a normal measure (not the taster you often get in Sydney). We all had a ball and even thanked the chefs in the kitchen – they were doing all the hard work.
