About
You will find Central the exciting new craft beer and cider bar and restaurant in the heart of Newcastle's CBD. Central boasts 12 amazing beers and cider on tap, with a tantalising selection of fresh, local produce to satisfy any palate in their amazing restaurant that offers quality food with a value for money mantra. Through an exclusive partnership with Matilda Bay Brewing Company, Australia's original craft brewery, Central is able to provide some award-winning craft beers on tap, such as Fat Yak, Red Back, Beez Neez, Bohemian Pilsner, Dogbolter and Dirty Granny cider to name a few. Central is located in a historic building in King St, once home to a Methodist Church and later a theatre company and even a picture house. Many of the historic features of the building remain, including breath-taking chandeliers and sweeping staircases. The recent refurbishments have now been completed with the restyled venue offering several themed areas including "The Chairman's Retreat", "Tea Garden" and even a mini cinema area. These areas reflect various elements of the buildings history and previous functions. A new cafe area at the front foyer will operate from early morning seven days each week. The kitchen offers a menu that ranges from the entree & main fare through to snacks and delicious share plates. The menu has been carefully crafted to provide an outstanding dining experience on every visit. The bar offerings will be headlined by the Matilda Bay draught beer range of quality craft beers and a series of small run, small batch premium crafted beers. There is a wine list to complement this offering and a selection of fantastic and refreshing cocktails to satisfy any taste - why not enjoy these in the "Tea Garden"? The venue also boasts an outdoor seating area, known as the "Central Lane". The team at Central are excited to unveil this exciting new venue, sure to become a go-to spot for Novocastrians and visitors alike, and are even more excited to provide an outstanding service experience to you on each and every visit.
