Nice spot across from the water, friendly service. The old fashioned tram with its back in the day photos is great. I had a chunky beef cheese & bacon pie. It was ok not excellent just average. Worth a visit because it’s an iconic name and experience, maybe I’ll try something else next time could be a little better. Price is good for the food.

Had the cafe de wheels hot dog. Having been to the Woolloomooloo outlet I was left very disappointed with the quality of food and service at Newcastle. Toppings on the hot dog was minimal and was missing the garlic onions. Service was blasé – worse then what you get from a fast food joint like McDonald’s.
Awesome Mushy Pea Pie. This place is a relative newcomer to Newcastle with a solid and long history in Sydney. For a genuine mushy pea pie with gravy, this is the place. Good size, well priced, fresh and not canned peas either. I Haven’t had one this good since Adelaide in the 90’s.Excellent.
