  Visited Silo for a quick ‘finish the night’ drink. Ordered a Jeff Buckleys cocktail (at a cool $16.50) expecting a ‘taste of Manhattan’. The drink tasted as though I was swigging bourbon straight from the bottle, and at $16 a drink I would have been better off with a bottle. No evidence of mixers in drink, and cherry appeared corroded from intense concentration of straight liquor. Would not recommend for those looking for a delicious drink. If however you are quite wealthy and looking to drown some serious sorrow this place is for you.

  I went here for lunch with friends – we all had the $25 lunch special which came with a glass of wine (my white wine was not great but the red was a Shiraz which normally I drink, but felt it might be too heavy for lunch). Two of us had the risotto and one had the burger. We also had a kids fettucini which was massive! Suitable for older kids too as it was a big portion. I think we ordered well – some of the other food coming out of the kitchen did not look great and it was expensive but $25 for the risotto was well-priced and it really was delicious. Well cooked with creamy goat’s cheese and soft roasted sweet potato.

  Best In Newcastle. Silo is by far the most consistent restaurant in Newcastle. New menu is amazing, great service with a great view.
