Came on a Sunday lunch and it was very quiet so the food came out promptly. The butter chicken and garlic naan were full of flavour and had the right amount of spice. Service was lacking a little and overall atmosphere of the restaurant was a let down as it was dark and not very inviting.
Reasonable Indian curries which I thought were alright, but not necessarily something to travel for. $10 lunch deals (incl 1 naan) on weekdays and $15 lunch deals (incl 2 naan) on weekends.Being the only customers in the restaurant we were given free dessert too, which was a nice touch to send this place to an above average rating.
Wonderful service and hospitality. The cook always makes sure we are satisfied with the meal. We have eaten there and ordered take away, family combo 1 never fails. He was kind enough to let us swap the butter chicken to another main. Perfect!Delicious food and the best service! I hope people find these guys in the corner or at least give the restaurant a go- don’t let all the empty furniture make you second guess. Won’t disappoint.
I feel a little sorry for this place. It is stuck in a really uninspiring spot on the end of a group of restaurants, tucked out of the way, I don’t think many people notice it’s there. From the Newington Marketplace carpark we walked past 2 Korean restaurants that were packed and down the end this Indian restaurant was completely empty. We usually get Japanese at Newington but this night we felt like Indian, so we thought we’d give it a try. And we were glad we did!The restaurant lacks ambience, was empty, and the TV playing bollywood out of tinny speakers wasn’t really adding to the atmosphere. We took a seat near the window and asked the waitress to turn the TV down which the chef happily did.We asked the waitress which dishes were Gluten Free as my wife is GF and the head chef came over to our table and told us all dishes with the exception of the breads were GF. Fantastic! We ordered a Fish Tikka for entre which was delicious, the fish was cooked perfectly and tender and the dish was large enough to share. For mains we ordered a Chicken Tikka Masala and a Jalfrezi Chicken. The Chef confirmed how spicy we would like the dishes and we asked for medium. Both dishes were flavoursome and the meats were delicious. The serves were large enough that we had enough left at the end for a takeaway for lunch the next day.The head chef appeared to be the owner and he was very willing to serve. The dishes were very good and the gluten free menu is a bonus. While therestaurantlacksatmosphere it is cleanand they are really making an effort to please. A few more people and the place would seem much more appealing. We will definitely beeating here again and hope a few more locals support the place too.
