Time for some unusual desserts… A rose petals and pistachio studded watermelon cheesecake and plum pie with base of filo pastry and crushed almonds…. totally worth a travel of 2 hours. I’m keeping rest of their range for sampling in my next visit. And yes…. Excellent Coffee
Finally made it to black star party and ate the all famous strawberry watermelon cake. Such a unique combination, kudos to the chef who actually dared to bake it!!! Must have if you haven’t eaten it already. Just look at those lovely layers!!!
As always, this place never ceases to amaze. The assortments are creative and flavorful. The staff are also helpful and friendly, although much less so when its busy. The prices however, are much to great for its size.
A great variety of unique and aesthetically pleasing desserts, cakes and slices. Their famous watermelon cake is an amazing idea and is a healthy alternative to full on heavy cakes. Their watermelon cake is light, pretty and refreshing.
What a lovely little cafe. The decor is tasteful. Love the idea of putting lists of cruise in the case. It makes us less guilty-:). The coffee tastes good. There is a queue outside and you would not miss it.
Highly suggest you to come early if you want to get your hands on their watermelon cake! The day that I went, there were only two slices left and it was only noon!
I finally found the time to get out to Black Star at Newtown on a Saturday morning. The place was packed so no option but to takeaway. I really had to try the watermelon cake but also decided to try a beef brisket pie.The pie was very good. Id rate it a 4.5/5. Pastry was excellent as was the filling. Only very very minor criticism and what kept it from a 5/5 was that it could have done with a bit more filling. The watermelon cake was really excellent. Its very cleverly made with the rosewater essence giving it a wonderful aromatic characteristic. It looks amazing too. 5/5.Overall, a great bakery!
