Sometimes you just want to go to a pub that still feels like a pub and ‘the courty’ delivers that feel in abundance, plus more. Divided into four main sections, there’s something for everyone and anyone. The beer garden is big and open with big tables, perfect for big groups, the smoking area is actually big enough to fit the number of people you’d expect to be smoking in a pub, the dining area and balcony are warm and cozy in winter and open airy in summer and he bar area is always buzzing. One of the best things about the courty is the menu. It’s classic pub meals like nachos, burgers, Parma and wedges and they’re all good too. For the full experience, get here early and have an early dinner in the beer garden then head inside and try and get a table near the TVs and watch the Swans beat whoever it is that they’re playing. The atmosphere during a game is incredible.
The only, and I mean only reason I am not giving a full 5 stars here is because sometimes I can’t find a seat and I get grumpy.Other than that, if you are looking for a great atmosphere to take a friend, first date, mother-in-law, or your puppy for a drink, HERE YOU GO.The Courthouse has a relaxing vibe anyone can get into. Either sit in the pub and soak up the many TVs playing the footy, or step into the outdoor beer garden that in my opinion should be #1 in Sydney. We always end up here either on a weekend with friends, or after a long day in the office. Nothing beats a beer garden that allows you to bring your dog.Being someone who doesn’t have a dog, I enjoy this because I get to see everyone’s pups whilst enjoying my favorite beer.We have yet to try the food as it looks a wee bit expensive. But, the Courty is our #1 go to bar any day of the week.
Extremely disappointing Sunday lunch. The $25 Sunday Roast was the worst roast I’d ever had in Sydney. The portion size was tiny – the chicken was tiny and curried (!), two scraggly thin roast wedges and a couple of thin pieces of carrot. My friend has Bangers and mash – the bangers had straggly bits of green stuff (green chillis?) , poor quality and also a meagre portion. Will be going home to eat again soon.Only reason it gets 1.5 is for the staff who were friendly.Won’t be rushing back anytime soon.
Popular pub spot in Newtown the Courthouse Hotel is a great place for an afternoon beer. There are plenty of craft beers to choose from but I always go with the local. If it’s a nice day grab a seat outside and soak in the atmosphere. The menu has all the pub food options you would expect. If you have coins with you head inside and play some of the retro games including a pinball machine!
The bouncer was brutish. Asked my friend what the rugby score was (he didn’t know), and then told him to leave when he said he didn’t know. Pretty disappointing night overall.
This place has a great vibe if you want to pop out for a beer or bite to eat. Cajun chicken with side of chips went down nicely, chicken wasnt too dry.
Didn’t eat here so can’t judge the food. Funky ambience out the back in the beer garden but on a Friday night the lines to buy a drink at the bar out the back were loooooong, I’m talking 15 minutes line up to buy a drink (with only one bartender a lot of the time) and cash only.
