The food is pretty classic middle eastern fare, but Ya Habibi gets extra points for being wonderfully affordable- you can get a pretty hefty amount of food for less than $10, such as a massive falafel roll that’s only $6.50. On top of that, the owners are lovely people and super helpful.
Poor quality, reheated (microwave) food. – The dips were clearly out of a can and most of the food was soggy and not fresh. – Lamb was not cooked fresh and was over well done DO NOT EAT HERE.
Avoid this restaurant at all costs – there are much better alternatives that you must have passed to get to this establishment. Called in advance to book a table for two for a Monday night, but I was advised that they were full. Just to check, I walked past on that Monday and they were COMPLETELY empty. In fact, every time I pass this place nobody is there (please see attached photo). I wonder why? There is one answer to that question – Rowda Ya Habibi’s meat rolls. Absolutely terrible. I ate here with a mate and we both agreed that they were very average.
Phoned in advance, and was able to book the best seat in the house, the one near the window. Ordered the meat roll which was delicious, I shared it with a mate. Spoke to the family whilst eating my meal who were sitting around the restaurant sipping tea, delightful people. 10/10 would eat again
After reading all of the reviews below and at other sites and having passed Rowda Ya-Habibi on countless occasions, we tried this eatery to find out whether or not this was a quality restaurant for ourselves. As soon as we entered, we were met with a lady whose behaviour was difficult to pin down. She was inconsistent across the patients and even to the same patrons, ranging from terse and basically rude or condescending to welcoming but still not warm; at times, she was helpful; at others, she was of no help and impatient. To further add to the weird feeling of the place, there were other staff but they seemed to simply sit around and do nothing or sit around and man the money box.The menu featured a fairly wide range of options, most of them reasonably priced but some a little too dear, even in the absence of any real competition in the form of Middle-Eastern restaurants. The food that we ordered arrived almost too promptly, raising suspicions as to whether or not it was prepared upon ordering and freshly, particularly with what seemed to be a one-woman show. Nevertheless, the food was edible and tasted and smelled decent enoughIn terms of ambience, Rowda Ya-Habibi isn’t the most inspiring place to have dinner or even lunch (though it doesn’t do much more than take-away food such as shawarma for lunch) and the restaurant could do with some touching up.All in all, we would recommend that people try Rowda Ya-Habibi to make up their own minds about this place. We are happy to have tried this place but, given the strange feeling about the place, particularly in terms of ambience and service, we are unlikely to return here for anything.
Had eaten here a few years ago and the food was great. Unfortunately I went back a few days ago and have never had a worse meal in my life! They literally reheated the food – we could hear the microwave ding – and everything was therefore dry and tasteless. Safe to say I will never be eating here again! lapetitebobo.com
Left over food reheated in microwave!. Horrible, Low quality food reheated in front of our eyes!Never will come back again…
