Close proximity to the station and one of the biggest bars in Newtown. This place was nearly full on a Wednesday night and don’t underestimate the size of the bar, it’s like IVY for a bar. One of the most popular drink here is the Newtowner beer, which tastes almost like a cider. The chips are served warm with a sweet dip, although you could ask for Siracha. We sat near the beer garden area, where the lighting was perfect and created a great ambience for the night.

Came here for their chilli festival. The place was a lot bigger than I expected with separate little zones and areas. My group sat in the beer garden downstairs. Nice area. It was quite busy with all the festival people so food seemed to take awhile but generally good standard of food. One friend got the Beef brisket burger which he thought was tasty. Fries that came with it was seasoned well. Kale, brocoli salad with tahini was fresh. I like it when pubs have healthy options. The salmon my friend got however was very charred on the skin. I would say it was burnt. Another friend got a pork roll thing and he thought it was very average. Everyone, including security were friendly and cheery.

When you consider the mixed crowd and the heavy foot traffic The Bank is host to, expectations with food aren’t too shiny. Upon real discovery of The Bank its plentiful with different areas which make sense of the mixed crowd. The food is also a pleasant surprise and done well for woodfired pub fare. The chicken wings, while not crispy, are generous in their serving and coated with a luscious sauce. Ceviche is another great dish I enjoy here with crisp-fried tostadas and soft citrus which really cuts through. Grilled asparagus comes with some odd sides, however the stalks are both tender and crunchy. Service is speedy even at peak times, and the energy in the place is easily distracting should you ever experience a wait. I mostly enjoy the open beergarden and mixed level seating. Lovely spot with this hidden oasis a nice contrast from King street. crumbs-au.com

Regular post training saturday lunch hang out. Service is great, waiting times are reasonable and seemingly easy going crowd. I have my steak medium to well and it never lets me down. Thanks guys! Nice outdoor areas with all the creature comforts of a homely pub. thenextrushmagazine.com

We love coming here! We normally sit downstairs in their relaxed beer garden area and enjoy a cocktail. Most of the time we just order a bowl of chips and a side salad, but it would be great to see at least a couple of difference vegan options on the menu. Really busy on weekends, but the atmosphere is always great.

Melbourne Cup impromptu lunch. Salmon was slightly over cooked although had a delicious char grilled flavour. Squid was a little strange. Filling was lovely however was a little chewy and possibly undercooked.

Have been here on numerous times and they have always been good for me. They tend to have happy hour in the front bar form 5-7pm. Lots of outdoor seating and then downstairs more seating. Gone is the Thai restaurant and in its place is pub grub which i thought was ok. Upstairs they have a DJ on from 10 onwards on a saturday but not quite top 40 songs. Its a great pub to meet up with mates have a few bevvies and move on to the next thing if you are on a pub crawl.
