I’ve eaten a lot of pork rolls and these are by far the best! They’re not stingy when it comes to filling the rolls like other places; they pack as much as they can in there. The taste of all the components are perfect in my opinion
The best Banh Mi. ham. Pate, mayo, seasoning, pickles and chilli combination with the pork, what more is there to say. Just shuffle you feet forward at the pace of the queue. You’ll be up soon
Good value, fast service, tasty food, I can’t ask for more. Don’t recommend you to take it home, eat it in less than 5 minutes, otherwise the bread gets wet by sauces
Served by a friendly lady, I ordered one crispy pork roll with chilli and a steak roll with chilli on wholemeal.I am most happy that this lady had great English and had no difficulties in separate payments as I was getting one for a colleague.Made within the average timeframe, she kindly offered a plastic bag (big tick). Though the packets they were served in, were oily on the outside.I frequently order a chicken roll though seeing the juicy steak in the counter prompted me to try it.It was quite nice, the steak, juicy, tender and flavoursome with some bbq marinade though there was a lot more grissle bits than counted for.I could hardly taste chilly so that was a bit disappointing as well as my personal preferences of softer breads. This one was rock hard and sometimes hurt my gums.My colleague on the other hand really enjoyed his as he states most pork roll stores don’t give you the skin of the pork but this store only gave you skin. So all the crispy skin pork lovers -here is your Heaven !Wouldn’t go out of my way to get one though it isn’t horrible at all.
Run, and don’t walk, and get the crunchy pork roll. Fabulously crunchy, slightly salty but muchly tasty crackling combined with nicely roasted pork is the meat component you want. They happily provide wholemeal or white rolls. Just enough salad to be right (I hold a little on the coriander). The typical Viet bahn mi spread and sauce is there as well – enough to add the flavoured texture but not enough to have a soggy pool in the bottom of the bag. The lunchtime queue that extends 12 deep or more into the plaza shows that this place is doing the right thing.
Ok let me start by saying the rolls cost $5.50 and I’m quite full. So as far as fulfilling the basics of a good deal, cheap and I’m not hungry anymore, it’s a tick.Unfortunately though, by every other measure it’s not very good.It actually starts promising with a really nice, crispy, soft centred roll, but the filling, chicken (fatty and oily), salad (not the freshest), mayo (way too much), etc.. I mean these rolls should be really easy, I’ve eaten them dozens of times at other Vietnamese roll joints – I just don’t understand how these guys get it so wrong.
This review is for the salad/cheese roll only as I am a vego.Although it’s like bahn mi, it has a small deviation with the addition of shredded cheese. Personally I wasn’t fond of it my first time as I am accustomed to traditional salad rolls but now I can’t help but crave it! Eat here at least twice a week and can’t go wrong! Lots of filling and only $5.50! The place may be a little difficult to spot since there isn’t any signage but there is always a line out the door. Do yourself a favor and give this place a go.
