Just tried the laksa on the ‘special’ menu. In my 20 years of eating Viet food and laksas, it was a complete shock when it came out completely white in colour. Worst laksa I’ve ever had. And given the price ($14) – I really did expected better. My colleague had the same wavelength of feedback for their pork roll. Do not recommend.
Didn’t realised everything at the Tower Square is closed down for redevelopment. What to do for lunch? At lease Viet’s Pho left a sign with directions to their new location, which is Mount Street above Aldi. Particularly wanted some noodle soup, I got the special combination spicy noodle soup to takeaway. The soup looked a little oily, but did taste good. The serving was a little light in the sense that it was mostly just soup, not much noodles, ok toppings but could do with a bit more too. Still keen to try some of their other offerings though.
Pretty good lunch here today – grilled chicken, vermicelli salad. All the Vietnamese flavours you’d expect were there, fresh herbs, tender chicken and well cooked noodles made this a tasty lunch.Service was quick and very friendly.
Taking into consideration location and the other Viet places around, this is our preferred place in North Sydney. In no way is it in the league of Cabramatta or Bankstown phos but it will satisfy your craving for a midweek lunch if you are willing to fork out $13 or so for a raw or cooked beef pho, vermicelli salad or pork chop and rice. They also do rice paper rolls for $8.50 (3 rolls) and a modernised version of banh mis (lemongrass pork, etc) as well as the traditional pork roll. You are supposed to add your own condiments and herbs to your soup with a choice of sauces, chili oil, fresh chili, lemon, mint, basil and sprouts. The chili oil is one of the best around and really has a kick. The place itself is small with a few seats inside as a few tables out. Lots of people grab take away and go and service is usually quick. Can’t fault for a midweek lunch as you won’t get much better around the area unfortunately.
Ouch! Was craving a well flavoured pho but got some flavourless broth. No fresh chillies and no Thai basil served with it, which could have made it slightly better
I really like vietnamese food so I know good from pedestrian. The salads are OK but the pho is really basic and the soup has no depth of flavour. Not many bones or spices in there nor cooked long enough.
Selected the Pho. Had the cooked beef, tasty and moreish. Quick service, no nonsense decor, good collection of Ciet spices, chilli’s and fish oils, but tasty tasty Pho. Will be back
