Heard good reviews about this bakery. Ordered vanilla slice, cornish pasty, carrot cake, chocolate eclair and beef pie.Beef pie was great, cornish pasty was mostly 90% potatoe, carrot cake was heavy and didn’t seem properly baked through, vanilla slice was ok but not the best, eclair was very heavy but also just ok.Overall sadly disappointing after reading good reviews.
I would describe this cafe as a fusion cafe as it’s got coffee, and Vietnam rolls plus simple menu in Thai food as well. Good on coffee and rolls, but didn’t try out Thai food so can’t comment!Relaxing environment with good coffee!
High Street Bakery is a cosy and friendly family owned cafe, that serves up on what I call comfort food. It’s Vietnamese pork and Portuguese chicken baguettes are seriously a must have!! Their curry puffs and satay chicken are also really good. I highly recommend ordering their mango smoothie which is all kinds of perfection. Looking forward to come back to try out their other asian dishes
Went here for lunch. The line was quite long but we got to our turn within 5 minutes or so. Ordered two different baguettes and a pho. The seating is very limited with seats very close to each other and having to share. It’s not exactly a place to sit down and chit chat. The baguettes came out fast, however the pho took longer but it was good to see that they served it fresh and hot. We ordered the lemongrass beef and chicken baguettes. The bread was fresh and crispy and the ingredients were all delicious. The meat in both were quite large pieces and plentiful. Even the pho had a lot of meat. Given the size of the meals the prices are justifiable. Would recommend this for takeaway.
This place serves one of the best beef pho soups in Sydney! I’d also recommend the beef quinoa salad, which is not only epic flavour wise, but the serving portion very generous for $12. Staff are always so friendly and pleasant to deal with here and the food is consistently made with love.
Update October 2016Been here several times over the last couple of months and sadly both the service and coffee have deteriorated.Service was mediocore to begin with and now it’s just rude and arrogant.Coffee is either too weak or burnt and never right. Not coming back anymore.Previous review:-Lovely decor.Coffee is surprisingly good.Service is quite rude; there are a couple of girls who just can’t help but to show off to the customers how irritated they are, whilst a couple of other girls who are genuinely sweet and helpful.Sourdough isn’t their thing but the baguettes are good.
High Street Bakery is great if you are looking for nice baked goods in Willoughby. I’ve been there several times and whilst it is a tiny spot to sit in and eat, it has great pastries, rolls, pies etc. There is often a line up in peak times (its right next to Harris Farm, so lots of families), but be patient, its worth the wait. foodiemookie.com
