poor service, small serving size and expensive. waited 1 hr for entree and other tables who arrive quite a while after us got served before us. 🙁 but the food was quite nice and came all at once.
My favourite Chinese place! We have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. The service is on point and they were very attentive. The salt and pepper prawns were amazing and my favourite Mongolian lamb was delicious !!!
normal fried rice at lunch cost $25!! tea cost $4 per head…. It is ridiculous expensive in a this below average standard Chinese restaurant! you can have it just $12 everywhere during lunch~~~ They just rip you off and didn’t offer menu for you to choose…. they are sucking blood!
My favourite Chinese restaurant. I’ve been going to this place for years and it never fails to disappoint. The food is delicious but most importantly the service is great. Bill has been a staple in the Northmead/Parramatta restuarant business for years and will continue to be because he’s a classic. Really friendly and accommodating.Love this place. Worth every cent
Grandmother’s birthday – amazing!. I wrote the same review on Dimmi but I know a lot of people don’t book through there, so I figured I’d add it here too.One of the best Chinese restaurants I have been to (and I have eaten in Cabramatta, Chinatown, and a myriad of other small eateries). The service was impeccable – incredibly friendly, prompt, and they consistently went above and beyond during our dinner there. We went for my grandmother’s birthday, and were so understanding with everything she requested (and encouraging to boot!).My grandmother rarely enjoys eating out, but for the first time I had seen, she was laughing at dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the food! The pork in plum sauce was to die for, and though I don’t eat chilli, my parents said the Szechuan pork was also incredible! If you’re nearby, I could not recommend this highly enough! We drove for 45 minutes to get there, and after dinner, decided it was definitely worth the drive and more.
There is a reason restaurants like this are around for ever. The food is delicious and more than your run of the mill sweet and sour pork. It might be a little more expensive then the normal suburban chinese but you get what you pay for.
Famous in the area.. The Blue Dragon Restaurant is an establishment.Opening back in the late 80’s, BD quickly became a local favourite. I’ve dined there on many occassion and over the years… A constant face in the dining room is Bill. He and his team have tried to build a consistent, warm and friendly atmosphere. The food has remained unchanged for many years. The Chef’s Suggestions have been suggested for 20 something years now… Maybe it’s the same chef? But these meals have become classics. Like the menu at Mc Donalds, you can always go in to BD and get your regular dish.Over recent years, the food has slipped a little. Slightly more oily but serving portions are still more than adequate. The dining room service is either hit or miss. When they’re on, they’re on and you feel like you’re #1.But there have been times where the service has been substandard.Price is quite high for Chinese food especially in Northmead (pricing would be ok for Balmain, CDB) but you do pay for presentation of food, service (when it’s on) and of course the table service of yesteryear that is rarely seen today. e.g. Hot towels, meals served by the waitstaff etc.A big bonus and hopefully not a spoiler, but if it’s your b’day or special occassion, the team at BD will bestow you with a huge sword to cut your cake. Impresses everyone in the restaurant who usually break out in song to sing happy birthday or the obligatory For He/She’s a jolly good fellow. Overall…. Blue Dragon is a good place to dine. It’s more a special occassion restaurant than a 3 times a week kind of place.Ask any of the locals, there is no other choice for Chinese in the area but Blue Dragon.- PS:Soft drink prices are too pricey. They really need to look at this.If you’re lucky, you can catch glimpse of some C and B grade celebs at times. I’ve seen Jeff & Mario Fenech, Ray Warren (commentator) and I think even Bert Newton – but I was drunk so it could’ve just been an old dude with a bad hair piece.Hope this review helps.7/10
