My friend recently celebrated her milestone birthday in this pub, she hired out the entire first floor and had the place all decorated up. The floor was definitely spacious enough to accomodate the 50+ guests and they even let us set up DJ table to play our own music. I know for such a celebratory occasion I should have taken off my foodie hat and immerse myself in the happy moment with the company of good friends. I just couldn’t pass the fact that the canaps over the entire night were extremely disappointing. Quite a few dishes were deep fried – deep fried prawns, deep fried chicken, deep fried fish, etc. That alone wasn’t necessarily an issue, but the crumbs were thick, hard, and cold. Every bite was like biting into a stone. Once you got through the horrible batter, you could hardly see any prawns, chicken or fish and they pretty much tasted exactly the same. All of them were served in a cup of sad salads. When the fresh oysters were served, I thought finally there were something decent. How wrong I was – the oysters were not fresh! I couldn’t wait to spit it out after first bite! Then it came the mushroom risotto, surely they couldn’t get that wrong, right? The rice was completely undercooked and it was still hard in the middle. Disappointment followed the arrival of each new dish with no exception throughout the whole night – meatballs were totally bland, the goat cheese crepe thingy were all mushy, etc etc. I managed to get full from birthday cakes, but it was disappointing that food didn’t enhance the occasion. A schooner of Perone will set you back at $10.70, not exactly cheap considering you will need it to wash down the mediocre food. thernbdiary.com

Having lunch here today. I’ve been served by probably the rudest bar person ever. They have improved the food here but the staff are still terrible.

A great pub with an interesting beer garden. Once again, the definition of a beer garden has been stretched in this pub. In fact I didn’t realise that I have walked into it until I noticed all of the ashtrays on the tables. Basically it is an area of the pub that has a roof that can be opened up, or closed in case of rain, though it never felt like I actually went outside. I quite liked this bar, though the prices were about average. The toilets were a little hard to find, though I did end up seeing the balcony (which is not really an outdoor balcony, it is simply overlooking that room that could be called a beer garden, but I find it really hard to actually say that it is).

We love the Reno so Went with the family for winter lunch – ordered the roast beef. The promised Yorkshire pud (of course that was the draw card) never arrived, meat was very tough. House white Undrinkable. They forgot to light the fire till we were leaving. Really disappointing we won’t be back.

Yuck!!!. Ate on Tuesday 8th of April. The food was nothing short of disgusting. Over cooked, dry, no seasoning & served on a cold plate. Inedible 100%! Staff on the bar seemed more interested in their conversation than our attention & the manager chuckled when we voiced our complaint. Don’t waste your time or money. Too many other decent pubs in Paddo’.
