Fairly standard rubbish Australian-ised ‘Chinese’ food. Tried to order some traditional dishes to avoid the typical but instead of being made fresh our tofu dish seemed to be doused in sweet chilli sauce and then microwaved. Good Chinese food doesn’t exist in Penrith.. Don’t bother trying
Hands down best Chinese in Penrith. Rainbow steak and steamed dim sims are my favourite! Better on Saturdays but still amazing every other night of the week!
Take away was absolutely disgusting. It looked like thick white paste over soggy vegetables. Very disappointing for a restaurant so big.Not very impressed at all.
Have been a few times and never had a bad experience food is good and so is the service.
Not worth the wait. Walked in and Ordered takeaway (2 x entree steamed dim sims, 1 x crab and sweetcorn soup) – were told it would be ready in 10 mins, no greeting or happy faces at the Happy Inn. Waited 30 mins before asking staff how much longer, he walked out the back and brought our order straight out. No apology for the delay, no goodbye. Disappointed after the long wait – steamed dim sims were dry inside?!! Not nice flavour. The soup was tasteless, consistency of too much cornflour & water?! Noticed all their awards on the wall (had plenty of time to read them) – makes sense no awards since 2008! Won’t be going back.
Had Better. I went to the Happy Inn last night with my family. We ordered one serving of vegetarian spring rolls and Malaysian skewers to have as an entree. They were both delicious, as usual. However, when we received our mains, they were less then impressive. We ordered the sweet and sour pork, duck with plum sauce, stir-fried vegetables with tofu, yellow curry chicken and Mongolian lamb. The sweet and sour pork, and the Mongolian lamb were both delicious. However, the duck was extremely fatty, the tofu tasted like egg and had a displeasing texture, and the yellow curry chicken was heavy, and not as saucy as it usually is. We ate our food without complaints, but it was rather mediocre. The service wasn’t great either, with waiters standing around talking instead of clearing our plates or refilling our water. I understand that it was a friday night, but there was more than enough staff on, working in the hospitality industry myself. I think there are cheaper Chinese restaurants that offer a far greater product, and better service.
Very friendly service, attentive staff, great pricing & best of all- great tasting food! Had the whole duck (2 course- pancakes and San Choy Bow) with usual sides and was very impressed. Will go back
