User reviews. Italian from the motherland who needs to go to italy
Awful food. We went as a party of ten for a mothers day celebration. From entree to main this food would have to be the worst ive had. Bruschetta was brown, limp tomato on bread with no taste. The fried calamari was all breadcrumbs and chewy rubbery calamari. The worst was the mains, three of us had carbonara, apart from being bland it had a distinct plastic smell. The pasta is obviously stored in plastic and all three dishes, despite having different sauces had the same plastic smell. Other mains were bland and tasteless.
Pub food at best. Expensive pub-style food. Very young waitresses weren’t particularly on the ball, salad was ok but porterhouse steak was sinewy and leathery, veal was also leathery, meals were basically fairly boring – and mighty expensive, unless I was overcharged (didn’t get an itemised receipt). Also very hot with only one reverse cycle aircon. Restaurant needs to lift its game and get a better chef – or charge pub prices.
First timer. First time customer, after reading reviews we decided to try it out. service was great, the waitresses were lovely and extremely helpful. We weren’t happy with one of the dishes so the chef went back to the kitchen and within 10 minutes had another dish for us. The pasta was great, bruchetta was extremely fresh and after discussing, we would go back again primarily on the quality of service provided.
Sadly Disappointing. Having recently moved close to Penrith and at the suggestion of friends we tried Lucaino’s for dinner recently.Ambiance and service was great and I must say that the bruschetta we enjoyed as a starter was fresh and delicious. But, the pasta!Seeing staff open a large packet of Latina pasta and plunge it into a pot of boiling water! Enough said really.
(un)satisfied. Waiters were helpful, but slow and few. Menu was limited and misleading. The ventian pasta dish, described as creamy pasta in a white wine sauce turned out to be nothing more then an overpowering pesto dish, I wouldn’t be surprised if the sauce was woolworths bought. It is a dish that could be made at home for less than $10, in less than 10 minutes. The garlic pizza, ordered as an entree, didn’t have any garlic on it. Just a few herbs. Overall this dining expirience was disappointing and I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here again.
Bland Italian Food. We went to Lucianos for the first time. We had walked past it many times so thought we’d give it a go seeing as it was in the top 11 restaurants in Penrith. The service was great, friendly, fast but the food was not so great. We ordered the Garlic Cheese which was nice but had way too mcuh cheese on it and was very oily. My main of Lasagne was dry and bland, from what I could see and taste there wasn’t a single herb in it. Judging by how dry it was it was as if they’d just put some beef mince and some crushed tomotoesand drained out the liquid and threw some cheese on top. Very disappointing. My partner ordered the Bosciola and Veal. The Bosciola was watery and again bland, the veal was very nice but the mushroom sauce was again flavourless. It is very disappointing when you go out to an Italian restaurant and get sub par food that you can make better yourself at home for under $10. I won’t be returning here again.
