Monopole lives up to the hype and the awards. A Potts Point celebrity for a few years now, MP is a dark and sexy little wine bar, with a staggering supply of vino and excellent food to match. We went the $70 set menu, which was a list of winners perhaps let down only slightly by the kingfish course. The others – seared kangaroo, lamb shoulder with eggplant, snapper – were absolute delights, all explained carefully by the dedicated and friendly wait staff. What was especially nice was to have a few protein courses on the set menu – too many serve a number of vegetables courses with one or two mains, but at Monopole each course can stand on its own. Take a date, put your trust in the staff and enjoy.
