Update 23/7/17, macchiato was luke warm in a take away cup, long black watery, forgot our sugar in the coffee. Grabbed a flat white and double macc before jumping in and braving the pre xmas crowd at the fish market. They serve heaps of cold cuts and various marinades and sauces too along with excellent spread of cheeses.

After getting some fresh sashimi i wanted coffee and this was the only place i could see that served coffee. Order & pay at the counter towards the left as the deli counter is on the right. They have 2 tables to sit and both tables specifically note that no seafood is allowed on the tables. So only cafe food really Huge selection of sauces, chutneys, dips – you name it they probably have it. They also serve Pat’s ice cream sandwiches and other sweet items. This place is filled to the bring with random items. So if you need a break away from the seafood or just need some ideas on sauces to cook your seafood in – this would probably be the spot. Only got coffee and that was good.

Food Heaven. Recently discovered the Blackwattle Deli on a trip to the Sydney fish Market. Although the markets themselves do not leave much to be desired, the pushing and shoving of tourists and seagulls is tottaly worth it when you come down to th end of the arcade. Gorgeous to look at, amazing display and eevery niche product you can think of. and the cheese?? WOW it’s the best election i have seen acrosss Sydney. They scored a few award with their cheeses and there is a young cheese guru girl there who knows just about everthing cheese related!!I also picked up abaout every single obscure ingredient i have been looking for. As for price, yeah they are a few bucks more expensive but the staff know what they are going on about and look after you. I’d much rather shop in a place where they look after the produce and know how to use it. I’ll be going back for sure. no matter how thick the wall of tourists is!

Smells like fish … Tastes like good coffee. I try to avoid the fish market the best of times. Overrun with hoards of tourists chowing down on platters of deep-fried chips & soggy cooked seafood sitting under heat lights. Amongst the madness is this deli offering price-inflated goodies from many parts of the world. Decent selection of cheeses & smallgoods and a few tables to sit and relax and enjoy a well-made Toby’s Estate coffee before or after you squeeze your way in to grab your fresh seafood at the neighbouring vendors. heneedsfood.com
