This was the food stop in an afternoon of beverages with the boys. The rib eye special seemed the manly choice to soak up some of the libations and a good choice it was too. Despite being a more than a little north of medium rare it was a decent and tender piece of meat. Now possibly my palate was not in first class order but the flavours make it through so I take that as a good sign. The pub itself is the classic style, not unloved but not tricked up to suit the Insta snappers either. One of six in Pyrmont if you are interested in a little Sydney history.
A quick visit resulted in the ordering of a pulled pork burger. While reasonably tasty, the pulled pork carried way too much sauce and soaked through the milky brioche style bun. As I ate it with my hands, it started to fall apart. Everywhere. The salad, served as a side to the burger was pretty slapped together.
The Kirk always goes out of its way for you. With several very different areas to sit in you can always pick your atmosphere. The owner is a true gentleman and his staff are lovely. You can’t go past the food either. Very well priced and always high quality, my favorite is the weekday $10 steak but the specials rotate so often and are always great also..
When I worked in Pyrmont this was our local watering hole. We loved it because the staff knew us and we could reserve a table in advance. The pub grub and drinks were decently priced, the taste was above average and we could always get a seat (well because of the booking.. but on Friday afternoons this place gets quite packed out with bookings). Even their service here was above average, always with a smile and friendly greeting. They have seating upstairs, a small outdoor eating area and seating in the pub section which has sports running on the screens. You can always get in okay conversations here as most people dont get too loud. I loved their chicken schnitzel and beef nachos. They even have a nice range of sauces on a condiments table for you as well. The burgers aren’t really worth trying unless you’re not expecting much.
Absolute top Dollar!! Very reasonably priced quality food, classics done extremely well and the specials outstanding, literally eat here a few times a week, and sure pints on $6. Ya can beat the wife but ya can’t beat them prices!
Nom nom nom. Here on a mini holiday and thought we would give this pub a try as of the specials. Every meal we had was AMAZING. Don’t go past the lamb shanks and risotto! The staff were so friendly and went out of there way to cook up a special order for us. Prices are reasonable. Delish!
This place has transformed itself. The Dunkirk has undergone significant renovations and it has truly paid off. The food is very good straight-forward yummy pub food. Good quality food that has hit the spot on numerous occasions. Service is very good and staff have been always been friendly.
