Ive been here for both breakfast and dinner and both times were amazing! I prefer coming breakfast for breakfast though – its a buffet and its definitely more affordable.
Best Japanese restaurant in Sydney ever! Their omakase is worth the waiting list (can be up to 1 year). Freshness and quality of their food is beyond – the from scallop to toro & chutoro and even their tamago
You should order their Goma (black sesame) dessert and their cappuccino-alike dessert!!
Love the food! 5/5 for the food. Service was superb from the concierge to the table service. UNTIL a lady rush us out by reminding us to return the table in 15 minutes when we havent ordered the desert. Its a proper dining not the fast food restaurant so we expected adequate time. A rush feeling is a high turn off for us.
The staff went above and beyond, from giving us a call to check where we were as the kitchen was closing shortly to being attentive and clearing the table at the completion of each dish. The overall experience was great. The food was freshly prepared, delicious and came out promptly. Will definitely come back!
I absolutely love this place – and its clear that most of Sydney agrees with me. Brought my brother here for his birthday on a sunny Sunday morning. The restaurant gets very busy with hotel guests and locals alike so bookings are highly recommended. For $45, guests are entitled to one main (chosen from the ala carte menu) and unlimited selection of Japanese breakfast pastries and breakfast items from the buffet table which is great value for money. There is a decent selection of buffet items to choose from, including muffins, danishes, fresh fruit and salads, Japanese soba and porridge with various toppings. I ordered the seafood set, which included a generous topping of fish roe and chunks of fresh salmon, squid and kingfish with an onsen egg. Service is pleasant although it can be rather noisy during peak breakfast hours. Special props to the delicious Yuzu danish and yuzu muffin with custard, will be back again.
Sokyo is a fine dining Japanese restaurant at the Star. Celebrated mums birthday there recently. We enjoyed great food & service, the wait staff even sung mum happy birthday. Sure made mum feel special!
Second visit to Sokyo. This time trying their ala carte menu. I ordered sashimi platter, tuna crispy rice, degakumi, and pork belly skewers. The highlight was definitely the degakumi. Perfectly cooked, soft and sweet at the same time. Absolutely love it
