Decided on this restaurant for a catch-up with friends. It was quite full when we arrived and a pleasant amount of chatter in the background promised potentially pleasant evening, which it was.It must be said though that the service lacking. The staff were friendly and pleasant but definitely not attentive. They need to work on this aspect and it would not take much to lift this part of their game. The garlic bread, for an Italian restaurant was very ordinary but the arancini balls were excellent. My friends calamari was very well presented and he enjoyed it.For main I had Duck Confit, which was tender and moist but just a tad greasy. The salad and kumara fries it came with did help to lift the meal. My friends pizza was quite good but the base could have been crispier. His partner had lamb which was overdone and my wife had ravioli that I think was probably the pick of the meals. The big positive was the price. Meals were very well priced and less expensive than Walsh’s Pub, not many metres up the street. In all, it was a decent meal and I would go back if not to try some of the other menu offerings and have some more arancini balls.Just a little better service and a bit more passion and this could turn into a hidden gem.

Cannelloni. Decent22 Mar, 2015Meh. We came for a family…. Meh.We came for a family members’ birthday dinner as it was close to where we live and we felt like Italian. The place was easy to find being on a main road, and there was parking out the front. It was a Sunday night, so the place was pretty empty. When you first walk in, you’re met by the overwhelming smell of smoke. This was expected as they have wood-fired pizzas on offer. The waiter was standing clearly in view chatting to another staff member for a good few minutes before he bothered to come over to seat us. The decor is a bit tacky, seedy-lit with terribly cheesy music playing. The table cloth had multiple stains on it which really isn’t good enough for the image they are going for. We had a garlic pizza for entree, which didn’t take too long to come out and was quite tasty. It had a hint of Rosemary which wasn’t overpowering. The garlic was subtle, to suit all tastes I guess. When ordering mains, we were told that they had no lasagne (the first item on the menu). This is pretty poor form as their menu selection wasn’t large. We ended up ordering the spaghetti bolognese, cannelloni, and a ham, salami and basil pizza. The mains came out decently quickly, and were served hot. The spaghetti bolognese was a large portion, that came already with powdered Parmesan cheese on top. This is disappointing, as I would have omitted this had I known it was powdered. The bolognese was nicely flavored but far too salty. The pizza a little on the undercooked side, but a decent size for the price. The cannelloni was good, the touch of pesto a nice addition. We skipped ordering drinks as $4.50 for a can of soda to be put on thee table is a little rich. All in all, we didn’t hate the meal, but this place is let down by the decor, the hit and miss service, and the lack of choice on the menu. The prices were a little high for the area too.

The only thing Italian is the name. $6.50 for a 300ml bottle of mineral water?A dire excuse for an Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is as gloomy as the service. Minimal natural light makes you feel as if you’re dining in a garage or storage shed with horrible red walls and tacky framed prints which screams clich.Tables are over set and table cloths are unclean. The chairs belong in a 70’s food court and so does the food.Staff are Indian not Italian, so do not expect authenticity.Schnitzel and chips were dry and bland. The salad was the best part of the meal because the dressing in which it had been drenched was reminiscent of flavor, something that you should not expect to experience when dining here. This restaurant tries far to hard to be something it just simply is not.

New Italian in Qbn :). Well was pretty happy to see a new Italian place in Qbn (very sad to see Thai Sorayas go) but it was shortlived as the food was very ordinary, even for this pricepoint.Small servings and poor flavour. Even the pasta was poor. Will not be returning
