Cool name – check. Tapas – check. Cocktail Happy Hour – check. Heading into Randwick for a quick dinner and this place grabbed our attention. The setting and decor is awesome and instantly eases you into the evening. We enjoyed a cocktail each and the mixed dip plate. At $12, due to happy hour 6 – 7pm, the cocktails were worth it – also if you like them on Facebook during Happy Hour they will extend your hour for another 30mins (7:30pm). We ended up grabbing the scallops, beef carpaccio and paella balls from the tapas menu. All the food tasted great, however, the plates were expensive for the portion size. This place will be a repeat to stop in for a cocktail and single plate when catching up with a friend for a drink or prior to heading to the movies.
Good cocktails. Good selection of tapas. Service was ok, the staff seemed to be under pressure a little. Just one ladies toilet in the restaurant.
Service there just horrible:( we went there for dinner after the Spot festivals and suddenly they turn music very loudly on around 10.30 p.m. We have been asked turn volume down and got answer that the way they have been operated and if we don’t like something we can leave. We were still waiting for the deserts and we have asked one more time again. Owner of this restaurant actually replied if we don’t like this we can **** of from her restaurant:( I never had such experience, they just ruined our day:( that’s so rude and unprofessional
Excellent restaurant & Bar that’s been here for ages. Staff are really nice and relaxed. Food is exceptional and well priced. Highly recommend coming here for a nice relaxed evening or date night.
First impression about this cafe is, they do have indoor and outdoor seating in the area. Althought it may irrelevant with current weather, I have strong feeling that it could be a base camp for summer!
Paella who be okay for a nursing homeBelieve it or not the owner has never had a compliant about the paella, here goes: no saffron, no garlic, no stock, not crispy on the bottom, minimal protein. If you want to pay $32 for a plate of nursing home food. Its here.
The Spanish fail. I’m not one to write reviews nor am I one to complain but The Spanish Fly unfortunately was a disappointment. With lots of space there was choice to select where my friend and I would sit. Service was slow, menu items were mispronounced by waiters and the food, I’m sorry to say, was so bland that I was already regretting the bill. With four servings selected all were lacking taste and heat. On paper, the menu has potential and is exactly what we wanted. More punch and we would have been happy. But in all honesty a Spanish fly would have been much more appetising. Such a shame.
