Come for the jazz music, come for a drink but don’t get anything to eat here! Really..dont do it to yourself! I love 505 for the amazing musical talent on display and actually am a regular. Unfortunately, I made the mistake to get a meal here and I regretted it immediately. I paid $17.50 for an eggplant parmigana and my friend paid $10 for a wrap. $17.50 for the size of my meal was extortion. It came in a tiny tiny bowl. On top of that both my meal and my friends meal tasted like something a uni student overcooked using whatever left over ingredients they had In their share house. Both meals were way too salty and my parmigana was essentially just tomato paste from a can. It barely qualified as food

In response to the previous reviewer, some points.1). The raison d’tre of Venue 505 is to be a live music venue.2). There ARE some miniature seats in the venue, but for 90% of the shows, patrons will be seated much more comfortably, usually on couches or at tables. For very popular, sold-out shows, miniature seats are an alternative to standing or being seated on one of the two or three steps leading down from the enteance walkway to the dining area.3). The Venue is not shy about emphasising that it is all about music. It is abundantly publicised that the venue does not wish to admit people who want to destroy other patrons’ enjoyment of the entertainment by talking over it.4). I have been there 40-50 times, and there has never been any problem with the bathrooms, for me or my friends, on any of those occasions.5). I think the food is excellent, and at $15-$20 a main, exceptional value. I would particularly recommend the eggplant parmigiana. It has to be said though that the choices are limited, which reflects 1). above.6). If you are a self-obsessed ratchet-jaw who wants to crap on loudly, stomp over other patrons, complain about the artists who are providing entertainment, and then, after doing everything possible to destroy the enjoyment of everyone else, to have the actual effrontery to demand a refund, this is not the venue for you.7). If you are an appreciative music-lover who is looking for a great night of flattened-fifths in a place that looks like it might have been Paroah Sander’s lounge room, circa 1963, then 505 is the place for you!!!
