Wow what a let down, came in a couple of weeks ago and tried the beetroot, quinoa, walnut salad with beef brisket…. was AMAZING. So after talking it up went again today and got it again. BIG let down. The quinoa wasn’t dressed with the dressing which last time was soooo unbelievably good, it is bland and tasteless even the beetroot is tasteless. The beef brisket had been so overheated it was dried strings of meat which weren’t nice at all. Don’t think I try again at $18.90 there are better options around.

Affordable and trendy little place in Redfern. All the salads and toasted topper options are always a winner. My only gripe is they didn’t have air-conditioning over Summer, and you really felt the heat of that.

I dropped by here to get something for lunch and got takeaway, so I didn’t get the full dining experience. Staff were nice and the place had a nice ambience. I ordered their chicken sandwich, which was pretty good (but slightly expensive). It had a slight kick to it which I liked and set it apart from countless other chicken and avoid sandwiches I have had before. Would come here again.

What a welcome addition to the Redfern area! Small but delicious menu. The Beetroot and quinoa salad is fantastic! Service is fast and friendly.

Initially we wanted to visit Juan, which is around the corner. However they said they were booked out (this was around 1.30pm). We had noticed Fern St Eatery on the way so decided to venture in. I ordered a green salad which names eludes me at the moment and currently there is no menu online. Salad consisted of avocado, broccoli, peas and nuts which combined to a pleasant texture. Personally, a tad more seasoning would have made it. The serving size of the added bacon was generous but could have been cooked more consistently, and the bits of bread on the side were a nice touch. Coffee is by The little marionette. Not a personal favourite, but does the job. Service was quick, friendly and attentive. Perhaps a little too attentive. Waitress asked if I was finished when I still had food and swept my plate away as soon as I had. Would suggest as a casual place to get together. There is ample seating although, if on a hot day I’d recommend trying to get a seat at front as where we were seated at the back lacked ventilation/cooling which made for a slightly uncomfortable seating.

We love the relaxed vibe and people at Fern St. We ordered the Shakshuka and the bacon & egg roll, both were super tasty and coffee was great. Will definitely be back!

The green bowl (kale, peas, broad beans, green beans, broccoli, dukkah) is packed with goodness and very tasty. It did feel slightly unbalanced though – a few dots of labneh or goats curd would add to texture mouth feel and elevate it from a good to very good dish. Lovely people, nice coffee. Pretty happy overall with this choice.
