Would highly recommend booking this place! We got lucky and managed to get a seat cause a couple had cancelled their reservation. Anna has obviously thought this through because she offers a small menu but she does everything so well! Food comes out real quick and is presented on the most beautiful plateware we loved everything and will be back in the future!

Ordered the tonkatsu and the wagyu and the matcha dessert. Everything was perfect about this place. Didn’t have to wait too long for the food to arrive and the service was remarkable.

The restaurant itself is quite small and intimate. And so is their menu, there are only four main dishes and two desserts to choose from. However they have an extensive range of teas. We pretty much ordered the whole entire menu except for the Unagi Hitsumabushi bowl (the grilled eel bowl). The mains and drinks were mediocre in my opinion but the two desserts were delicious! The matcha tiramisu was soft and fluffy with the right amount of matcha and sweetness ratio. The black sesame warabi mochi dessert was tasty as well! Overall the food was okay. I think Id only come back for their desserts.

I really really enjoyed the bowls and tea we had here!Wagyu bowl MUST MUST try! 10/10Katsu bowl 9/10 I am a bit a health nut, so I opted for the brown rice in one of the bowls. Although it was very nice, the white rice is soo much better! There is something about the grain of rice, and the way it is cooked. Its amazing!!Also had the black sesame mocha dessert to finish off, only down side.. The serving was too small. I would have liked much larger bowl of this haha getting greedy!I will definitely revisit, for the chiggen bowl!!

Juan is a contemporary Japanese restaurant situated in Redfern. The food was innovative and delicious, compliments to the head chef and owner! I look forward to going back.

Small little cafe located in redfern. They have very limited seats and it can get very busy, so make sure you book in advanced or come in early. We went on a weekday, with a reservation and within an hour it was already full. We ordered the katsu and wagyu. The katsu came with a small side serving of the sauce and mayonnaise. My only concern, is that the sauce portion is tiny and not enough for the amount of katsu you get to dip it in. The katsu was cooked perfectly, it was crispy and tasty. The egg and rice also accompanied the katsu very well. The wagyu was smaller than the katsu, but the meat was tender and not overly chewy. It also came with a side of sauce, and a small portion of the rice. We had the match tiramisu for dessert and oh boy.. I dont like tiramisu, so i was glad that this dessert, you could not taste it. The matcha was not bitter at all! Infact, it is a really creamy matcha cake. Not spongey at all, but very smooth. It was very refreshing. The service here is fairly quick! And price range is decent. Would definitely recommend and come back to try more on their menu!!

Never let me down on every visit! Nice ambient and service. The food here you get is what matches your taste buds expectation and I think thats what makes it popular.
