Booking with Bel Cibo is a pain, since they don’t take phone calls till after 5pm on the day they’re open. Upon booking, I was asked to book for earlier or later than I asked, as they were going to be very busy.Being someone who wants food quickly, I opted to arrive earlier.The service when we entered was fantastic… and that was it.We ordered our drinks, which took a long time to arrive on our table. We even ordered a second round of drinks before our mains came out, and it still took forever.The entrees took AGES to come out, other tables who arrived and ordered after us, already had their entrees before me. While they were delicious, we had a problem……the problem was ordering their ‘Coda di aragosta alla griglia’, which literally translates to ‘Grilled Lobster Tail’ and nothing else.Now, when you see ‘lobster’, you expect a big tail, but this came out looking exactly like a Balmain Bug. Upon questioning this, I approached the manager who did say that she was shocked when she learnt it was a Slipper Lobster. It is noted in the menu as Slipper Lobster, but no normal person will know what types of lobsters there are…Considering there were other tables who did complain, I’m guessing they get this a lot, but are stubborn to change it to an actual lobster tail.The mains took double the amount of time to come out, as the 30 table restaurant slowly filled (although there were a few tables empty), it was crazy as to how long it takes. I’ve never waited that long for a meal, at a tiny restaurant.I had the Eye Fillet with Jus, Mash and some weird spinach thing on the side. Whatever the leafy stuff was, it was crap, keep it off my plate. The mash, the Eye Fillet and the Jus were otherwise, perfect. Medium as I requested, and it was beautiful. Definitely not worth waiting nearly an hour for though.Dessert’s aren’t too bad, I had the chocolate pudding, someone else on my table had the Pannacotta. Pudding was a bit dry, even with a liquid chocolate center. I’m told the Pannacotta is good though.I’m rating these guys a 2. While the main was delicious, it’s definitely not worth waiting a long long time for, as well as doesn’t excuse the confusing point of the Lobster Tail, and the poor time it took for the other food and drinks to get to our table.Definitely won’t eat here again unless 1. Lobster tail becomes what people expect, not a bug. 2. Faster service, not people walking with water everywhere, and 3. Cheaper. This place is ridiculously expensive for a tiny meal.
