I ordered the dumpling noodle soup and got 6 dumplings and not much noodles. The soup was hot water and tasteless. I could have made the meal. The dumplings were machine made. It wasn’t a satisfying dinner.
Came in to try this place, but didn’t come back. The food wasn’t as I expected. Decent portions, but was very oily and could tell they used a lot of MSG. I remember ordering some kind of lemon chicken which is usually something I like on a Chinese menu, but this one drenched it in sauce that the chicken almost disappeared and the sweetness was too overpowering. Service was quick, prices were ok each dish just over $10, but it was hard to order as the waiter didn’t speak much English and they didn’t seem to pay attention we had to make eye contact and wave them down.
not sure about all the negavite comments here but i enjoyed the meals and it was reasonably priced. And the dishes do look like the the pictures in the menu.
This is honestly the worst restaurant I have ever been to in my life. There has never been a restaurant that has had such disdain and is so disillusioned that they don’t know how seriously bad their food is. I could honestly not name a single restaurant that I have ever had worst than this place. I would not even feed their food to a stray animal.
Delicious food, good service, and super quick serving. I don’t know what these other reviews are going on about to be honest, unless they have changed A LOT about the restaurant, I just don’t see what they’re talking about.
Food is ok but the quality of chicken pieces used in their signature dishes is poor. Lots of bones. So be careful when you order a dish with bones.
The Old Fellow cooks up humble Northern Chinese and serves these dishes at modest prices. Everything we ordered was around the ten dollar mark and there’s nothing crazily expensive on the menu. It’s a restaurant best for big families, students or those looking for quantity for a low price but not necessarily quality.A kelp and seaweed salad seasoned with soy, sesame oil and a touch of vinegar was refreshing and a good way to start the meal. The leek pancake was a bumber as when it came out, it looked so damn good. It crackled when we bit into it but we promptly discovered it was bland and tasteless. It just wasn’t seasoned properly. The beef brisket noodle soup was flavourful but sadly, the noodles were overcooked and of the instant variety. Soggy. Steamed dumplings were also flavourful – the meat on the inside of the dumplings was well seasoned with a touch of chives – but we struggled to get them out of the steamer as they were all stuck together. By the time we got them in our bowls they were all ripped apart.Overall, decent humble food for an extremely modest price. Located in Rhodes, this is a short trip for me, but don’t go out of your way to come here.
