I really do question in how clean this place is. The quantity is big and the price is cheap but it does not taste that nice. It is always busy, and maybe I haven’t found the dish which is the best but I doubt I’ll go back
If you want value for money, authentic Cantonese cooking, this place is great. When you’re not ordering anything extravagant like lobster or crab, for a table of 4, you’ll likely have a bill of $20pp.Recently, we had a whole steamed fish with soy sauce and spring onions. It was cooked to perfection and the freshness can be tasted immediately on the palate. We also ordered the white cut chicken with vegetables. The chicken was silky and the ginger sauce went very well with it. We also got the fried pork chops (). If you are sick of sweet and sour pork, definitely get this instead if you don’t want that sickly sweet sauce.Don’t let the humble decor fool you. This is no nonsense Cantonese food that will feed you well. The service is average but it is a family owned restaurant. If you adjust your expectations to that, you will not be disappointed.
The quantity of the portions and price really have to be commended! But I really question how clean the kitchen really is…Like many reviews mentioned, don’t expect great service or spectacular food. The food is below average, but comes in good quantities for a very very cheap price. But in saying that, there are other options around so, I would suggest those… However, the Congee and fried rice noodles during lunchtime are a pretty good choice if you end up in that restaurant somehow~
Don’t expect fab service though.. it does offer the best Chinese Food for a medium price range..Do try the sandong chicken, salt pepper calamari or pork chop, beef and vegetables stir fry, pork chop in plum sauce, steamed oysters in ginger soy sauce, sweet sour fish fillet, steamed burramundi in ginger soy sauce, chow mien….In short…. Basically everything is YUM!!
Don’t come here for the decor. Don’t come here for the service but definitely come here for the food. Generous serves, tasty food and economical prices. The Shandong chicken, fresh seafood, salt & pepper prawns/squid/white bait/pork chops are a must. Also love the steamed or fried giant oysters. If only I could read the Chinese poster boards plastered on the walls offering off the menu specials like cod cooked 2 ways (sin bahn leung sik). The reason why I always come here with at least one friend who can read Chinese 🙂 Definitely a local gem worth supporting.
Worth a regular visit. Insanely good Cantonese cuisine at great prices, with great portions. Their dishes are similar to many Chinese places all over Sydney, just bigger and tastier! The variety is huge, though this makes the menu so big as to be intimidating. Just try everything!
