Did the tour of the distillery which was very informative and the tour leader was energetic. Also the music coming through from the bar swamped a lot of what was said. It was a bit of information overload. You get four very small tastings of their gins $35 each I think it was overpriced considering theres. As there is nothing else around here, people will be spending more money in either purchasing product and or buying drinks. After the tour we went to the bar and the service was quick and friendly. Drinks were generously priced. Theres plenty of comfortable seating with the music that was a little annoying before getting us in the mood for drinks.

Archie Rose is located in The Cannery complex with the brewery and bar areas separated by a narrow corridor. Very friendly staff with some interesting drinks. The gin with fresh pear juice and crystallised pear was a hit. Great spot for a pre dinner drink.

I’ve seen whole shelves of Archie Rose in bottle shops and thought that I need to visit the distillery, which has quite a pleasant bar in the suburbs with long hours. All it needs now is some decent gin. We started with the standard gin and tonic, which I would think would show the essence of the distillery, and it was smooth but completely tasteless. Even the tonic was tasteless, such that the drink seemed more like a vodka and soda. With the bottles starting at $79, this is really pointless gin. We couldn’t believe it could be this bad, so we ordered a tasting flight of gin. Well, the basic gin and the strong gin were just as tasteless as in the mixed drink, but the other gins were actually good – two had fantastic botanicals and the last a very strong but enjoyable lemon myrtle taste. I couldn’t find any of these gins on the menu and I can’t imagine how much they charge for them. The basic gins are worse than Gordon’s though.

Gin, gin, gin, its enough to make me grin! Tucked away in a suburban leafy area of Rosebery, inside a warehouse block lies this distillery serving all your classic gin cocktails and more. You can also go on a distillery tour (which I need to book myself on soon!). I love the casual, laid back and chic vibes in here, there is a small amount of seating, I also like sitting up at the bar where the magic happens. They also do a very good charcuterie vegetarian board, my only request is that there needs to be more of that Iggys sourdough bread to mop up the delicious dips and cheese that features on the board.
