They look good, I’d really want to try it some day, I guess whenever I visit there I’m hitting you guys 😀 I just hope it’s all good when I come :p
Good Pub Food Great Bistro!. We came from the South Coast to Rozelle and found the Garry Owen Bistro on the hottest Sunday afternoon in memory, The Bistro a bit hard to find as it’s tucked away at the back of the pub. But the locals know about it because it was packed with large tables of families escaping the heat and tucking into the pub food. We got cold beers from the main bar but there is a craft beer and a wine list that we passed on because we thought the better of wine on a hot day. Our food was really good, it’s not fine dining but then you aren’t paying a fortune either, and you certainly get good value, I LOVED the Haloumi Salad and tasted my friends’ Beer Battered John Dory which was fresh and light. There was live music upstairs that was upbeat with a bit of Michael McDonald, Bob Marley and Kenny Loggins thrown in and the bonus was …we could hear it from our table so we didn’t have to climb the stairs, if I didn’t live so far away I would make it a Sunday ritual.
Fish Advantage Service None. I have dined here on quite a few occasions. The meals are generally good. Especially the steak dishes. I also loved the Salmon. But there comes a time when terrible service is just too much. The first few times I dines here the service was very good. But recently the service has been disgraceful. My problem is not just with the service though. On my latest visit I asked for Garlic Bread and received it at the same time as the meal which was not altogether palatable. What’s more the Garlic Bread was dry and the bread used for Garlic Bread was obviously so stale that it was inedible. I had the same sensation a week ago when ordering fresh bread only to be presented with toast. Obviously this restaurant doesn’t get fresh bread daily. The Salmon I ordered some time ago and the Rump Steak were first class but the service was sub-standard. The fish on this night was ok and it was Dory. But the salad was drenched with the most basic French Dressing you could make. Absolutely disgusting and probably deserves to belong in a very bad Bistro. This Hotel Restaurant wants to be recognised as a very good example. It has a long way to go, Can I offer two good points. This evening the two waiting staff were more interested in talking to each other than in serving or being attentive to the needs of the guests. I normally leave a tip. I couldn’t leave these two pretend waiters a tip.
Easter lunch for 12. Lunch for 12 of us in beautifully refurbished bistro, great food, very reasonably priced, awesome desserts and really well looked after by Marg, Jen and Billy. Then after drinks on sunny upstairs balcony – great day had by all. Will definitely be back
