I would choose another Balmain pub over this one. The food service was slow (our order was forgotten and when it did arrive one of the meals was wrong), the atmosphere was tired and the staff could be more knowledgeable. Compared to The Bald Rock Hotel or The London, this place has some catching up to do.
Food is rubbish, very depressing and old, staff couldnt care less, kitchen took 40 mins to get the simple meals to us, still got 1 wrong, waste of time, average food, do yourself a big favour and go somewhere else, Balmain has plenty of great pub options not sure how this place is still operating…
Recently came here for a birthday party and ordered a couple of burgers. There was hardly anyone else there yet it took forever to get what we had ordered. Once our burgers did come out they were average and our chips were luke warm. Otherwise this place is a nice spot for a Sunday sesh. sarahtrad.com
Went here for Balmain of thrones- great experience! I ordered the pan roasted barramundi with squid, pasta and this pasta type thing. It was very delicious, I would recommend if you want something other than classic pub food. The falafel burger is also incredibly tasty and worth trying. As a starter, try the jalapeo croquets. Pasta isn’t as good as other meals. Customer service is great also, they stuffed up our reservation and so gave us complementary drinks! Everyone is quiet during the episode also. All in all, a great experience.
From 2 May to 30 May 2016, the Balmain Hotel is hosting Game of Thrones live screening every Monday night at from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. They are also introducing a special Game of Thrones crispy pork belly burger with apple coleslaw, hot sauce and a bucket of hot fries for $12! The wines are served in a special Game of Thrones silver dragon goblet for $5.The experience was pretty amazing, patrons enjoyed their meal in silence while their eyes intently glued to the big screens. The burgers tasted good and quite substantial in size. The staff were really friendly and very considerate. It was a different but a really good pub experience. weekendnotes.com
Don’t rush to this pub, plenty more pubs in Balmain b4 you would visit this one! Staff need serious hospitality training – esp if manager has decided to close early. You’ll feel like a nuisence. Very unwelcome, try the welcome, the London, the Riverview, the dry dock, the exchance, anywhere in Balmain but here
