I finally got the chance to try the much-hyped raindrop cake from a couple years back. The central area was for cooking gyoza much like the gyoza restaurants in Tokyo. Staff were friendly and upheld high standards for their dishes.Matcha raindrop cake Overrated, the crushed pistachio didnt have the same effect as kinako with its toasty flavours. Original raindrop cake Much better than the matcha variant, simple syrup and toasty kinako with tender jelly. Simple classic flavours that work in harmony.Nutella gyoza Overrated, it doesnt have the right texture like many other pastries such as puff, filo etc. Gluten development and thicker skin of gyoza wrappers just doesnt go well with the sweet filling.
Real rating: 2.5/5This place is overrated to be honest. While the restaurant has nice vibes, the food is very mediocre. The pan fried gyozas were pathetically pan fried – no browning of the gyozas what so ever, might as well just serve us poached ones…However, the tempura eggplant and open crispy gyozas were very good. We also got the so called tesabaki wings – not a single wing appeared on the plate; all drumsticks (yes drumsticks are great parts of the chicken…but we were expecting and wanted wings…)Ive been here prior this visit and tried the fluffy pancakes – not worth it at all. It was bland and was served with the smallest bit of chocolate sauce, a few slices of banana and a small amount of maple syrup.
Harajuku Gyoza is a cute Japanese restaurants, like its namesake they do great gyoza. I have tried them with many different fillings and they never fail. Also tried their Darling Harbour restaurant but forgot to take photos 🙁
The place of the famous long fries! But actually doesn’t matter the fries, they are just fries. But the gyozas are really good and better if you can have a nice beer! Every dish has 5 pieces, cheap dishes, around 8 bucks so you can order many. Try cheese gyozas, are really good! Friendly and funny staff. Order a sake and wait till see what happen, you will see a funny introduction to your drink from the waiters.
This place is the bomb, its amazing food served effortlessly with love. A simple dish made perfect is always a winner. But if you do visit, their dessert Gyozas are a must !!A warning to book as the lines and wait time can be intense depending what time you arrive
